Hotel Casa Roland Golfito Resort

"We had a lovely stay in Casa Roland Golfto. It was central for us to visit local national parks. The pools are great and you can look out and watch the scarlet macaws, toucans and other wildlife. The staff were very good apart from a mix up with a food order then the kitchen and bar staff went cold on us for the duration of our stay. ( even though we paid the total bill ) Rooms clean, good car park area. Breakfast was very local and not really to our taste."

"The staff were very good, they were good notes and helped very much. In particular one called Beto, helped us very much when our room had some small disadvantages. The rooms were OK. And much security."

Amaka Ocean Living Lodge

"The pictures give the impression of a private deck with water view. There are no private decks. Just two chairs on a public walkway. Water views are very limited from the rooms. Supposedly there is a jacuzzi you can use - not sure if they charge extra. The rooms are very attractive and modern. The bathroom has sliding slatted doors and a slatted door to the toilet - not great for quietly using during the night. The hotel is an integral part of a very attractive marina. A nice restaurant, mini mart, ice cream shop and coffee shop are on premises. Grounds are very nice to relax in. No place to enter the water to swim - in fact, they warn you about crocodiles. Probably the nicest and most expensive place in town, but there are other options."

Esquinas Rainforest Lodge

"One of my best places for birds and other wildlife in Costa Rica. This time I got photos of three totally new species of butterflies for my photo collection. It is a quiet and relaxing place with gourmet Tico food, a different fruit juice every day and a different vegetable soup every day! :-) Plus it is next door to the La Gamba Research Station from the University of Vienna."
