The Bell Inn

My wife and I needed overnight accommodation in the area. We were pleasantly surprised by the accommodation & facilities. Booking was easy on line and reception friendly, albeit we chose steak night and the restaurant was busy. Although we had not reserved, we were shown to a table and had an excellent meal. Our chosen room had an additional entrance from the rear so we did not have to go through the bar with luggage. We are able to climb stairs so upstairs was not a problem. Breakfast is not currently available so we went to the Stables nearby. 3mins by car. Highly recommended.

Such a vibrant feel on our arrival in a beautiful location. Seems popular with local people. Our overnight stay was a clean and spacious room with a comfortable bed. We both ordered chef specials for our evening meal and were not disappointed. The wine was good and reasonably priced. I ordered Hake and it was absolutely delicious and very well presented . My husband ordered veal and we both cleared our plates! We booked direct and all staff were very welcoming and friendly. Thank you.

We visited for two nights and couldn't fault either the accommodation or the food. The room (Cambridge Suite) was spacious and spotlessly clean, possibly a little 'light' on utensils etc if you're planning to self cater, but that's being little critical. The restaurant was rammed (Tuesday evening) and the food was good, a nice piece of Hake and a good portion of belly pork, along with accompanying veg and sauces. The staff were all attentive and friendly, as were the (I presume) locals in the bar. Would definitely recommend.

23 of us sat down for a meal here at the Bell Inn. The service was outstanding as was the food. Serving a group of this size is no easy matter, but here as always it was first class. Hot meals with a nice selection of sides, quick service all round. Well done.

Rooms in hotel are lovely and comfortable and self catering facilities are in room which is great. Rooms are clean and homely. Now for the bad! I paid 600 pounds for 5 nights accommodation on condition it included breakfast and no breakfast was provided. The food in the restaurant in the evening was very good however it very expensive with the cheapest item being 16 pounds. The noise during the night is dreadful round 2am in morning from windows not being secured tight in rooms and water pipes. The wood on all windows is rotting away. Such a shame for a beautiful place.

It’s a very local location, a few minutes from the M5 junction yet in a beautiful village setting. I only wanted a comfortable bed for the night so did not sample the food. However, the bar areas looked inviting and there are plenty of tables for outdoors drinking/dining in the summer overlooking the village green. It has its own private car park. The room was cosy (known in advance) but very clean, comfortably furnished and with everything you need for a successful stay. The en-suite was also small but again very clean and everything in working order with a few basic toiletries. The shower had excellent power which is so often lacking.had a good rest in the bed and had a choice of pillows. Overall an excellent stay and would happily stay again. It was very quiet, inside and out, perhaps as it was midweek. But something to consider if you really want quiet in the summer months.

My wife and I pre-pandemic used to go very regularly on Friday lunchtimes for their superb fresh fish always beautifully cooked and presented. Hoping this still to be the case we were looking forward to going again today. But alas that wasn’t to be. Both the fish options on the menu that previously would have been fresh and white, wer now grey and frozen. Tasteless unseasoned batter on the Haddock and a dirty sauce of Black Pudding ruining the Scollops. The only thing to commend the place which has now been taken over by a pub group was the server who was a lovely Italian guy obviously embarrassed by the food he is serving. It’s gone down hill to the extent that we shall never go there again. A beautiful pub/restaurant in a unique position on the green now very average and completely ruined in the name of ‘progress’. It’s not just me, look at the current reviews and compare them with those of yesteryear.

Dinner was superb. Such good value and great flavours. Surprised it wasn't full on a Saturday night. Perhaps it's a hidden gem. The area us well worth a visit. The puds were also great. Service great. Hope we can return sometime. Perfect for near Elmore Court.
