Awsome place to stay very central in George Town! So many nice details, very personal with only 4 room and the hoste Jane is amazing. Very warm welcome, many good tips. Especially the Tour with „Loveley Lau“ is something to do! A private Tour with good food and nice sights.😊 Would definitely recommand this hotel and come back.

We could not find a taxi kiosk inside the hotel but there were plenty of taxis outside. It's an half hour ride to the hotel. You have to order your breakfast the night before and give a rough time. The breakfast comes with fresh orange juice and great coffee or tea. There are plenty of cheap places to eat close by. If they don't serve alcohol you can get beer from the supermarket at the bottom of Love Lane. There also a few bars at the bottom of Love Lane. We can recommend Micke's Place where they had live music every night starting about 9pm. Even though the bottom of Love Lane is very busy the hotel is far enough away so there was no noise at night. We can recommend this hotel if you like something different.

Lovely quaint establishment, getting back on its feet post-pandemic. Breakfast is only available pre-order, as don't see the inhouse kitchen open. Experiencing the old nyonya style home, with wooden flooring, our room has a lovely inner balcony. Pros; lovely architecture to having the olden days feel. Friendly staffs. Nicely located along the Love Lane/Muntri area where there are many eateries, street stalls and wall art. Cons; our room had constant water dripping sound from bathroom, just ended up taking it as part of experience. Note that rooms will not be cleaned unless informed staffs as establishment respects privacy. I'm sure establishment will continue to improve and back to its glory days.

You Le Yuen heritage guesthouse is as heritage and authentic as it gets. The old heritage building has been meticulously restored to its former glory and is absolutely beautiful. Our room, the south duplex suite, was cute and really cool that it had 2 levels. Upstairs was a nice and spacious bedroom and downstairs a nice and comfy living room with the bathroom. Bathroom is on the small side but it's got everything you need and a super nice shower so not a problem for us. The host, Jane, is absolutely brilliant. We did a bit of research on where to go, what to do and where to eat but she gave us so many good local recommendations we otherwise wouldn't have found. She also booked us a full day food and sightseeing tour with the lovely Lau. This tour was amazing, we got to eat again at so many places we wouldn't have found ourselves and everything was super delicious. We also visited most if not all of the must see sights on Penang island in between all the eating. So if you're staying at You Le Yuen we'd highly recommend doing this full day tour too! Next to the property being beautiful on both the outside and in, the location of it is perfect too. It's nestled in the middle of the old and charming China Town and a short walk to a lot of great food (restaurants and street food markets) and bars for a drink at night.
