There was a pub next to the hotel, and the music and singing kept me awake from 2 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. If you’re seeking a peaceful and cozy place to stay, I wouldn’t recommend it.

We stay 5D4N , and for me this hotel is excellent, room very clean and spacious, staff very helpful and friendly, location good across 1st avenue mall, if you want breakfast just around 30 meter you will found kedai bee hong, open from 6.30. Komtar station bus only 50-100 meter.

We just had a fantastic 3 night stay at the magazine boutique hotel. Set in a heritage building where traditional features have been kept as much as possible, we love the hotel's location as it is right opposite a shopping centre and only 10mins walk to the heart of Georgetown. The family room that we had was very clean and as pictured and fit our family of 5 perfectly. Everyone had slept very well every night. (Re noise - I only heard a very faint bass at some point one night but it didn't bother me, my husband said he heard nothing at all and none of our kids complained or mentioned anything, so it may be due to where your room is situated) A special mention goes to hotel manager Kelvin - he is a gem and has made our stay super special. From the extremely clear instructions for self check in as our flight was delayed and didn't get into Penang until the wee hours, to for being super helpful in passing my son's sunglasses to the grab driver when he left it in the hotel lobby after check out. Thank you so much for being so wonderful Kelvin! I would not hesitate to book this hotel again when we are in Penang next.

A Disappointing Stay at The Magazine Boutique Hotel I recently stayed at The Magazine Boutique Hotel in Penang, and I have to say it was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had in a while. First off, the noise! There’s a nightclub right across the road, and it’s as if the hotel staff are completely oblivious to the blaring music until all hours in the morning, the bass thumped through the walls, making it impossible to get any sleep. When I mentioned the noise at the front desk, they acted like they had no clue what I was talking about, which felt incredibly disingenuous. It’s hard to believe they don’t know the source of the chaos when it literally drowns out everything else. The room itself was nothing special—stuffy and poorly maintained. The furnishings looked outdated, and the bathroom had a musty smell that just wouldn’t go away. If you're looking for a relaxing stay in Penang, I highly recommend you look elsewhere. The Magazine Boutique Hotel seems to prioritize charm over comfort, and the staff’s feigned ignorance about the noise situation is the cherry on top of a truly disappointing experience. Save your money and find a hotel that actually cares about its guests.

Das Hotel liegt unweit des Komtar-Busstops, die Altstadt und die Jetties sind fußläufig zu erreichen. Das Hotel ist ein sehr schön modernisiertes, altes Weltkulturerbe-Haus. Daher gibt es auch keinen Aufzug. Allerdings hilft das Personal beim Tragen des Gepäcks. Die Dachterrasse ist nichts besonderes, der Ausblick auch nicht. Ein Sonnenschirm wäre super, damit man Tisch und Stühle auch nutzen kann, sonst ist es tagsüber viel zu heiß. Wir hatten ein Familienzimmer, das nach hinten gerichtet war. Somit war es sehr ruhig. Nur der Bass der nahe gelegenen Bar war durchaus zu hören, störte aber nicht wirklich. Das Familienzimmer ist im oberen Bereich etwas wärmer als der untere Bereich im Zimmer, da das Bett oben unterm Dach ist. Alles in allem ein gutes Hotel, das wir wieder wählen würden.

Booked a Deluxe Double Room and happy with the room. Clean, trendy, spacious and comfortable. Location at Jalan Magazine and shopping mall is just located infront the Hotel. I love everything about this hotel and very recommended, hopefully they can reduce the price because it is a bit pricey. :)
