Beautiful hotel grounds . Spacious rooms but tired decor, needs updating. Service was very hospitable. Much much older crowd

Nach mehreren Nächten stellt man natürlich das ein oder andere Manko fest. Für uns befindet sich jedoch alles insgesamt noch auf einem Niveau, wo es dem Stil angemessen scheint. Sehr stilvoll insgesamt und die Professionalität bzw der Umgang der meisten Angestellten mit den Gästen auf einer gelungenen Ebene. Man darf tatsächlich das P/L nicht außer Acht lassen. Nicht für jeden das richtige, doch selbst die Lage ist für uns ein super Kompromiss.

A quintessential English hotel with echos of an EMF novel. Five stars go to breakfast, evening meal and dining room staff. Four stars to facilities- including pool and gardens. Three stars go to standard of bed rooms. Clean but dated. Need a complete refurbishment, including bathrooms to be worth of 5 stars. Three stars to general appearance - floors need re carpeted, art work up dated, reading room needs refurbished. Reception staff at times were abrupt and small requests like changing a menu item troublesome. Three stars that courtesy bus does not run at weekends. Hotel located on edge of a social housing project. Missed opportunity to facilitate guests getting to know each other in the evening by offering games night or concert.

Both my daughter and myself had a lovely week at the Quinta da Bela Vista. We have spent a few holidays here but this time it was a different holiday as we had experienced a bereavement just before Christmas and we wondered how it would be as we had always travelled as a family. However, as we experienced the beauty and tranquility of the Quinta coupled with the kindness shown to us by all of the staff who were amazing, we knew that we had made the right decision to travel. We now look forward to our next visit to this wonderful hotel once more. Thank you, and it was such a pleasure to be back once again.

Lovely hotel with friendly, attentive staff on the desk and in the restaurant and bars. Food was good and varied with ample portions. The rooms are clean, well equipped and sized. The hotel itself is very pleasant and has wonderful views over Funchal. Would definitely stay there again.

We stayed in this beautiful hotel from December 20 -30th. And boy did it live up to the fantastic reviews that had been posted previously. Before diving into the review, I do think it's worth noting that a lot of our fellow guests were repeat visitors, which, to my mind is probably the best recommendation of all. Here we go then, the staff. A mixture of young guns and older, wiser heads. Whether it be Reception, Catering or Cleaning; every member of staff that we came into contact with was friendly, professional and truly invested in ensuring your needs were catered for. Some truly lovely people; a good number of whom have been in post for many years (which I always take as a positive sign). Room (327). Lovely, spacious, comfortable bed. Great bathroom with double sink and good shower, balcony you could actually relax on rather than perch. Brew making facilities, replenished every day. Optional minibar. Free safe. Flatscreen TV. Kept spotlessly clean. I sometimes wonder about other reviewers comments on rooms, as usually, it is just somewhere to lay your head after been out all day doing holiday stuff. Unfortunately, on this occasion, I was ill for some of the stay and our room proved to be a welcome respite. Food. We booked Half board. Breakfast and evening meal. Wow!! Breakfast was awesome with all the colours in all of the sizes, including fizz if you wanted it. The evening meal was always four courses, beautifully presented and served. The menu was out first thing and if there was anything that you didn't fancy, as long as you let reception know, the chef would cook up something different for you. In the Manor House (beautiful historic building) you could book an A la carte meal, which was extra but absolutely worth it. We ate there on 29th for my birthday. Facilities. Tennis, Gym, Jacuzzi. Outdoor heated pool. Pool bar open from 10am till midnight. We are walkers. The journey down to the seafront is around 35 minutes downhill. About 40 minutes back up during which time you get a good dab on, however, for us, that mitigated the cake and coffee we'd necked on the front!! If you don't fancy the walk, either way, the hotel lays on a free shuttle service most days, but make sure you book and check availability. A taxi back is around 10 euros if you get stuck. Not going to say too much about Funchal itself, except that it is lovely, vibrant, friendly and I would live there. Thank you to all the hotel staff. We will be returning.
