🚘🛏️ Though it’s far from a five star, I’d say this is a solid three star hotel that gradually grew on us over our three night stay.
First impressions were rough. The parking situation was unclear and frustrating, the breakfast was disappointing, and the room itself left a lot to be desired. Our first night’s sleep was terrible, with the wind constantly banging the windows. The shower was stained, and the showerhead couldn’t even stay in place. After reporting these issues, the staff claimed the hotel was fully booked and couldn’t move us, but they did quickly send maintenance to fix most of the problems.
Surprisingly, the breakfast got better over the following days. It seemed like there was a different chef on duty which made a noticeable difference. Still, while inconsistent, it was enough to get us going each morning.
The biggest issue worth flagging is the confusing and limited parking situation. The staff say you need to reserve a €7 per day parking spot well in advance. Otherwise, they point you to free street parking overnight, but in our case, we couldn’t find any spots. If you’re planning to park your rental car here, make sure to book parking ahead of time or try arriving later in the afternoon to improve your chances of finding street parking nearby.
All in all, nothing spectacular. But if you’re looking for a lower end apartment stay in Funchal, it could be a decent option.
