The Hare and Hounds

It is a little gem, friendly people, excellent staff, comfortable rooms and great food. What more could you ask for. I’ve stayed here nearly every week for the past couple of months. I feel like part of the furniture. Couldn’t say a bad word about the place. Food is the best there is around there, with the latest “Craig’s pot luck” menu item a real treat and a refreshing change. Highly recommended!!!

This pub-with-rooms was so good that my husband had stayed here for business several times and then booked a room for us en-route to our holiday a few weeks later. He's literally never done that before out of all the places he's stayed at for work, so I knew that I must be in for a treat... and I was. Our room was lovely, very nicely decorated, with hints of a hare and hounds theme without going over the top. The beer in the bar was well-kept and there was a good range, and the wine list was very varied and good value. Food was excellent, well-prepared and helpings were substantial - I particularly recommend the pie. Next time we're in the area, we'll definitely stay here again.

A local pub for us, so handy, but sadly disappointed each time we visit. We just go for drinks, and are usually left waiting at the bar with no-one coming to serve us, or zero acknowledgement when serving another customer. When we are served, the welcome and service is incredibly cold and brusque. Apart from one lovely girl who I think has autism and wears a lanyard!! The price of our drinks also vary with each round, despite always ordering the same. Last time we visited, the second round was £4.70 more that the previous one. A big hike for a few drinks. So all in all, not somewhere to go for a nice drink in a country pub!! Such a shame!!
