We visited the same time last year and gave a poor review based on the restaurant, its inability to cope with celiac and its service mainly due to understaffing. We understood it’s an old hotel and requires some work. They asked for us to give it another chance. Ok this time we arrived early as my son collected us from airport, made very welcome by receptionist and went up to the pool bar for lunch with his children,this year there was a total difference in approach from staff, they even managed gluten free toasted sandwich with fry’s cooked in a separate fryer. ( no chance last year) warm friendly service. The hotel does need updating, which I am told will be over 2 winters from January to May. Looking forward to see what the improvements are. The main issue last year was the restaurant, plates not cleared waiting to order drinks and sometimes not turning up without asking, how different the chefs always help full showing which dishes I could eat being celiac and twice they went and made a gluten free version of the dish I could not have, offered desserts from the kitchen as not anything on show really safe. Breakfast last year was ok to be honest, with staff bringing out toast and muffins as a gluten free option. There as plenty of items that fine on the buffet, cornflakes etc. The staff seem far happier and friendly and have time to make the dining experience enjoyable. This year we took our Son and wife with2 young children who live in Fuengirola far a meal in the restaurant, they commented on the food, service and how well they had been looked after. Last year I took them to a local restaurant instead as I could not bring them due to the food and service. We will be back next year same time, after 15 years they are getting married. So I am happy I have a reasonable hotel to base our time in while we are there.
