Visitation Hotel Frederick, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

We visited the Visitation Hotel for a weeknight get away to celebrate my birthday. The property is tucked away in a private court in historic downtown Frederick. Our room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the bar in the restaurant and the creative use of space throughout the property. The developers were able to integrate the 'old' and new very effectively. Make sure to try a chocolate chip cookie (or two!).

I’ve never been so uncomfortable as I was in my room. The room wasn’t much larger than my king bed. There was no mini fridge nor was there a chair in the room. Only upside to the hotel is its location. Quite frankly, it was awful. I will not visit this property again.

This was an experience! From check in (champagne served) to check out it was a memorable stay! I love the old and new concept decor, antiques placed thoughtfully throughout the property added an endearing feel. Restaurant located inside (Wye Oak Tavern 5pm to 11pm ) food was amazing (my husband says it's the best burger in town. I had the crab cake and it was all lump meat. Yummy (you need reservations so book ahead you don't have to be a guest staying at the hotel). The bar inside use to be a sanctuary (stunning views). The bartenders are skilled, attentive, professional, friendly and they make superb drinks( you can order food here after 5pm no rsvp needed). They did not disappoint one bit! Rooms are cozy and well decorated. Bedding was soft, crispy clean and relaxing. We appreciated the short history welcome letter. This hotel hits the mark. We love Frederick and always said that the only thing that would make it better is a hotel downtown. Well, they certainly gave us that, didn't they? We stayed in a executive suite with a soaking tub and shower. The bed is very comfortable; I had a muscle spasm in my hip that cropped up about a week before and I slept like a baby in that bed. The whole building is dripping with history, but the upgrades to windows, fixtures, and design are flawless. The changes are respectful and appreciated. We loved the decorating. Water temperature and water pressure in the shower is excellent. Most of all, we loved the staff -- from valet to housekeeping to front desk to the wonderful hosting staff and serving staff at Wye Oak. We saw no flaws. That hotel is spotless, too. I dropped an earring in the bathroom and crawled on my hands and knees to find it -- someone cleaned that place with a toothbrush. Not a stray hair, not a puff of dust. That means a lot when everyone you know has the flu or norovirus. I also want to say that we chose this place for our anniversary weekend. Every single person on the hotel staff knew. The recognition was subtle -- a "thank you for choosing us on your anniversary", a bottle of sparking wine with a lovely note waiting for us -- which fit us: an acknowledgement without drawing attention. We changed a reservation from a very expensive resort to the Visitation Hotel Frederick, and we KNOW we made the right decision. The value for the money and the relaxing weekend we had trying restaurants and just hanging out in our suite was something that we know we couldn't have replicated anywhere else. Frederick is a fun town. This hotel means that we will be enjoying that fun town a lot more often. Highly recommended.

We were told that ******* miscalculated the availability and that there were no rooms available. We had to book elsewhere.

Hotel was outstanding! Staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating. Facilities were amazing….great execution on the repurposed facility. Location couldn’t have been any more convenient for walking Downtown Frederick. Only criticism would be checking in via valet parking was awkward. We’ll be back to stay here again for sure!
