Avondrood Guest House by the Oyster Collection

What a gem this is. We had the garden room which was a joy, nestled in its own private garden with loungers and a swing seat. Huge room so stylish with stunning design and massive bathroom. Staff were fab. So helpful. Such a shame we had load shedding on the evening we planned a cosy night in reading. We had to have the large glaring overhead light on, not the gorgeous soft side lights, but really first world problems, we understand what they're facing and grateful we had light! Breakfast was my only mark down in that the staff on the first day didn't know what was gluten and dairy free. I was limited in the buffet which was a shame, thanks goodness for eggs cooked any which way. The 2nd day the manager picked up a dairy free yoghurt for me, I was so grateful. She was also grateful when I politely explained that she may like to use Pick & Pay's Gluten free bread in future (theirs was inedible and clearly not taste tested by anyone!). Fab location too close to shops and restaurants and both Pick and Pay and Woolworths Food.

Travelled with another couple. We were made to feel welcome the second we walked through the door. Good introduction to the area by Karloff. Lovely room and breakfast, with perfectly cooked eggs. Good restaurant recommendation for sunset. Perfect start to a fantastic holiday. Thank you!

We loved this place. It is gorgeous. So charming. The staff is very nice. Breakfast was delicious. The manager, Karloff, is the best. Location is perfect. They helped us with wine trams and restaurant recommendation. I Highly recommend it

Simply outstanding! Our 4th stay at this outstanding guest house! Beautiful rooms, lovely breakfast, beautiful gardens. What makes this place special though is the people. Karloff, Juvelie and Jamie-Lee were incredible together with Justin. My husband was taken seriously ill as we arrived and eventually had to be hospitalised. They looked after me as a family would. They went well beyond the call of duty and checked up on me constantly We will hopefully be returning when my husband is better. The nicest place in beautiful Franschhoek by far

Perfect location and the highest quality of hospitality that we have ever experienced. Our private room was immaculate and extremely comfortable. We will return.

 Just returned from our second visit to Avondrood. Our first visit a few year ago was short but so lovely that we decided on a longer stay this second visit and it did not disappoint. The location is great, turn one way and you can walk up the main road to the village shops and cafes, turn the other and 5 min walk to the wine tram station . We stayed in the Mountain View room which was roomy and comfy but All the rooms are beautifully decorated and the main lounge and breakfast area have a homely comfy feel. One stand out point for this guest house is the staff. Justin and his team Karloff, Jamielee, Juvile were so friendly and knowledgeable about the area always offering advice and tips on places to see . Also big shout out to the lady in the kitchen who cooked such lovely food (sorry didn’t get her name ) This is one place we will definitely revisit if we are ever fortunate enough to return to South Africa .
