Horrible, horrible experience. Air condition was not working during SUMMER and instead they provided a fan that could not oscillate and was louder than an airplane propeller when turned on. I asked for a refund but they refused. Do not book at all cost.

Very old. Charming in some ways and not so much in others. For Fox Glacier, it was probably the best choice as the restaurant was good and the beer was cold at the bar.
Its been awhile since weve seen a place with radiators for heat.

Great hotel in a great location for exploring both Franz Josef and Fox glaciers. Recommend adding the brfst to your stay. Absolutely wonderful every morning. Best dinner restaurant is Betsy Jane’s. Recommend the steak, lamb and fish. We are there twice it was so good

Everything was clean and working. The room was spacious but too warm, however, calling reception fixed that quickly because they delivered a room sized fan. Parking was very close and a covered loading area was available. There was even a ramp on the stairs for wheeled luggage! Location is great for nearby cafes and tour companies. Breakfast buffet was fine (although the uniformed employee hovering over the self serve area felt like we were being watched instead of monitoring for restocking needs)

We stayed one night at the Heartland Hotel Fox Glacier. The hotel is centrally located and offers plenty of parking. The staff was friendly, and the rooms were clean but small and somewhat outdated. Our room did not quite match the pictures. The amenities were basic, and there was barely enough space to open one standard suitcase, let alone two. Dinner and breakfast were okay but nothing special. The food was somewhat bland and not quite what we had hoped for. For a 3-star hotel, this is generally acceptable; however, we found the value for money to be lacking. During our trip through New Zealand, we stayed in motels and even 4-star hotels that were both cheaper and more modern. For a one-night stopover, the hotel is fine, but it might be worth looking for alternatives if you're after more comfort. Generally, the region is very busy and expensive during the high season, so accommodations tend to book out quickly.

Looking pretty dated. Could do with sprucing up of the carpets. We were turned away from dining in-house even though we were told it could be arranged for us.
