Had crab nachos in the downstairs bar watching the 6 nations rugby. These were excellent and freshly made. Bar has recently been renovated and is much better than last year. They said will have tables outside in the summer and this will be a great place in the heart of Fowey.

We were worried that this might no longer be a pub but more of a restaurant. Sure enough, the tables were set for eating, but on asking if we could just have a drink, the staff obligingly cleared a table in the window for us. It looks really good inside and had a good ambiance - a few people that we took to be locals were also having drinks at the bar. The music being played was just excellent and was curated, it turns out, by a delightful lady from Texas. It is still a great place for a drink and the views over the quay are fantastic. Highly recommend.

Location, ambience , staff and food were all excellent. Went to pretty much every pub/restraint in the town during our stay and this surpasses all of them. Will definitely be going back and will try and stay in the hotel next time. A particular thank you to the lovely waitress who looked after us on Sunday.

Disappointed! Run like an Air B and B! No room servicing! After the first day - no tea/coffee/sugar replaced! No towel changes! Despite - very high charges! Shower poor! Room very modern and comfortable - but heating on very low for winter. Restaurant very good - staff lovely. But - restaurant very cold. My husband felt ill! Smell of toilets in the side entrance used by occupants going up to their rooms. Filthy carpet - needs flooring that can be cleaned daily. Advice - book somewhere else?

Stayed at The King in Fowey for three nights. Our room was the smaller of the two options, but was well appointed, clean, and offered the most incredible view (as do all the 6 rooms). Owing to the quality of dining options on offer in Fowey, we didn't have dinner at the King but the breakfasts were fantastic. The pain au chocolat is up there with the best I've had. The 'full Cornish' was also great, as was the trout on scrambled egg. Good vegetarian options were provided also. A word to all the staff that we encountered - really friendly, approachable people who afford the time to chat about Fowey and things to do!

While walking Hall walk we stopped at the Oyster Shuk underneath the king . Having had many oysters I was excited to try Cornish ones. I ordered 6 natural oysters with a glass of wine The Oysters were NOT what I expected, to start with they were warm , and seemed at least partially cooked . Not what natural oysters should be. I was unable to eat them . I paid the bill with no problem but discussed with the front of house waitress my disappointment. She said yes they were poached !!! She also said many customers had complained but the chef insisted on doing things this way . To be honest I'm not sure I'll ever eat an oyster again . Vile

My daughter and I stayed at 'The King' for a few nights. The room is amazing, beautifly laid, really smart. Amazing view to the harbour! Great looking and a very tasty breakfast, plenty to choose from. Everything in this place is very well managed and in the very high standards. We are definitely come again, and highly recommend it to others. But the biggest highlight for us was a one of the staff member. She is an incredible asset to the hotel, very attentive, professional, friendly. Simply exceptional human being. If we will have more people like her, the world will be a much better place. Thank you Kerris 🌞

This is a lovely place to stay with rooms overlooking the harbour, comfy bed, spacious room and en-suite. A little bit of luxury, enjoyed sitting with a coffee looking at the view. Friendly staff too and great food - would definitely recommend to friends and go back .

Dopo aver prenotato notte 1/2 aprile 2024 e ricevuto via email dall'hotel (il giorno prima) il suggerimento del check-in online, io e mio marito ci siamo presentati regolarmente alle ore 16 di lunedì 1 aprile all'hotel. CHIUSO. Nessun avviso. CHIUSO, mi hanno riferito, da diversi giorni.
