White Sands Estate

White Sands is right on the water and the back deck was lovely. We enjoyed watching the wildlife. The beds were not comfortable and the interior was dated. There are no restaurants close for dinner at night. I wish we could have stayed to visit the winery during the day. We did not have any interaction with the staff except through email but the check-in/out process was easy.

Strange place. Combined accommodation resort and distillery. In a magnificent part of Tasmania. We needed accommodation on the east coast of Tas and it was pretty competitive with Airbnb. Big place with lots of identialcal free standing units. All very basic built on the cheap. But ok. Unfortunately we were there at a weekend and most of the place was shut. Poor eating options, bar and wine section very limited and then the absolute killer blow. My partner ordered a cocktail flight (a special of the day) and the bartender explained she didn't add the garnishes to make it easier to drink. What? Weird plus plus plus. Essentially fizzy wine with fruit juice add in a wine glass. Awful is being generous. Won't be going back.

Rooms were clean and close to the beach.

Stayed and visited numerous times. I was unable to find any information about opening times concerning the brewery and restaurant. I assumed restaurant would be open from our previous visits. Unfortunately, Restaurant and bar close at 4 and not open Thurs night. In order to eat we had to travel 20 minutes so instead we travelled 40 minutes back to our previous nights' accommodation that had everything we needed including a large TV and more importantly a restaurant . Very disappointing. A beautiful place but be advised to check on facilities that might not be open.

The accommodation at the resort is first class. We stayed in a two bed unit with a full functioning kitchen. Lovely views out to sea. Nicely warmed up prior to our arrival. The only downside to our weekend was the meal we had in the Slightly Salty Restaurant which is on-site but under different management. There were only two vegetarian meals on the menu. My husband ordered gnocchi in a pumpkin puree for his main meal. We were disgusted when his meal consisted of only six pieces of gnocchi. Being vegetarian means we don't eat meat... Not that we DON'T EAT. It was disappointing to leave the restaurant still hungry. We will certainly return to White Sands Resort but not to Slightly Salty. There is no need with such excellent self catering units available.
