Sleep Inn & Suites Fort Walton Beach - Destin West

I arrived wanting to get some sleep after being up for 24hrs. Room AC wasn't on and room was showing 85 degrees. I asked the front desk if they had a cool room, but they said they don't leave AC on when room isn't occupied. I went and grabbed a meal and took a shower and room still at 83(2 hours later). Paint in the bathtub was peeling off(I don't know why inside of bathtub was painted). Paint bubbles were full of water from whoever showered last. Room had a musty smell.room fridge was sweating on the inside from hot room. Will be molded soon. Overall hotel appeared clean and new but I'm afraid it will run down fast.

Hotel is new this year, has good location, good bedding and strange bathroom with paint extensively on bath tub. We checked in after a long drive and went to dinner. Did not see paint until showering the next morning. At first, I wondered if it was a designer idea of funky chic (distressed look) and ignored it. Later read a months earlier review that mentioned it as well. No idea if it was the same room. On the morning that we checked out, some of the paint on the tub started to come off in patches. Otherwise, the hotel was clean and service was ok. Breakfast buffet is included in the room rate and is slightly better (though similar) to breakfast buffets at other hotels at this price point. Free parking and a good location across from a marina and close to a number of restaurants are pluses.

Bad experience from beginning. I am being robbed of $100 deposit at this moment. Already filed with my credit card company and will bring it to small claims if necessary. Brand new hotel with terrible finishes. My bathtub wasn't even new. The bathtub faucet was tricked so you could only use a tiny amount of water, so it took forever to take showers. We wanted to stay on the 4th floor, and were met with lots of hostility, because it turns out the manager and his family lives there 24/7. Just imagine the movie "The Shining", but easterner version and leaving garbage behind in the breakfast room every day. The rooms are really small. There was no cleaning crew, the hotel was dirty, carpets unvacuumed. Customer service at the lobby was terrible, wouldn't even look you in the eye. No hi, no smile, no thank you, no nothing, absolutely worst customer service ever. If you are allergic to pets stay away, there were pets on every floor. I took pictures of my room because some weird stuff going on considering is a new hotel, and also took a video before leaving. Metadata info on those pictures and video can easily prove when they were taken and no damage of any kind occurred during our stay. We never damaged the room, not even garbage was left in the room. They will regret have taken my $100. $100 from hell. If you find reviews in different places, you'll be able to see this is a pattern. Brand new hotel, keeping people's deposits. This so called "brand new 3 star hotel" is not such thing. Stay away.
