Hotel San Francesco

Beautiful hotel in beautiful setting. Very traditional with lovely friendly hospitality. We stayed in an apartment to the side of the main hotel and had a large one bedroom with seating area that converted the sofa into another double bed. Half board was definitely worth it with the food being 100% traditional Italian. We were assigned a table at the start of the holiday and this was our same table each morning and evening (if you have bottled water or wine they will cap it, label it and present it at your next sitting which we found perfect as it saved on wastage) We were presented with menus in the morning with three choices for starter and main and we had to make our selection then. Breakfast was very well catered for with a great selection of hot and cold with the chef making eggs to order. This hotel and the island is Ischia is like stepping back in time to the 1970’s - not commercialised, just beauty, tranquility, kindness and very traditional. If you are looking for a break to completely recharge then this is the place for you. There was nothing that was too much trouble for the hotel, they arranged our trip to the local spa and even provided their own transport to and from. Highly recommend this hotel - There is nothing to dislike. The pool area was also fabulous with comfortable sun loungers and the indoor pool and sauna were also fabulous too. We were two ladies travelling and felt very safe here and on the island. There was an excellent local bus service within two minutes walking from the hotel and we used this to travel around the island. The local beaches were soft glorious sand and you can rent two beds and an umbrella for €20 a day, the nearest beach is a 7 min walk from the hotel. Travelling from the main land was extremely easy and the ferry ride took around 45 minutes and the scenery was spectacular for the whole journey (although Naples port was very busy!). We were collected from the airport in small minibuses and transferred to and from the port by Tui staff and the same from the port to the hotel. I want to tell everyone to go to Ischia but really don’t as it is so unspoilt and it would be sad for this to change.

We stayed at the Hotel San Francesco in July for 1 week this year. I had booked this holiday with my girlfriend earlier this year and had planned it to be a very special one - where I wanted to propose to her. I contacted the hotel earlier in the year to try and ask for help with the arrangements and I can honestly say their help, guidance and support was second to none. They went above and beyond for me to make this event as special as it could be. In particular, Giusi who works at the reception was amazing - she advised on the best places and was unbelievably attentive to all our needs whilst we were there. She really made the most special moment in our life so memorable and we can’t thank her enough for this. Aside from the proposal, the hotel itself was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in. The staff are all very friendly and we thought the breakfast buffet was all so tasty and well set out - can’t understand the other comments about this not being good. It is located right next to a lovely quiet beach and then the bus stop is also at the end of the street with very frequent buses into Forio. It serves as a really good base point to explore anywhere on the island - we visited Sant’Angelo, Negombo and Procida from here and the hotel helped organise it which made it so easy. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Ischia then look no further! We are counting down the days until we get to go back again.

Spent an excellent 10 days at Hotel San Francesco , the facilities were very good and the choice and quality of food equally impressive, but what really made our holiday was the exceptional staff. Every member of staff was super efficient and friendly and very helpful, we would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone.

From the second we arrived we were treat like their most favourite visitors, we stayed in the annex in apartment Fresia. A beautiful large upper floor place with a large terrace on the front with table and chairs and an outdoor sofa and a balcony from the bedroom. Everything about this hotel is special, the pool area is stunning, the breakfasts were really good. If you love Italian breakfasts you won’t be disappointed. Every morning we were offered fried or scrambled eggs made to order and huge pots of tea if you wanted it brought to your table. We didn’t eat there for dinner but the menu looked amazing and we were given the choice to if we wanted. It’s in a great spot too with a nice walk to the beach whether you turn left or right at the bottom of the road. What makes this place so special are the staff and we can’t praise or thank them enough. They go out of their way to make your stay special and they are so genuine. When we left for an early flight an extremely large generous packed breakfast was ready for us to take for the trip home. We landed back home on Friday 13th talk about unlucky for some because we really didn’t want to leave. We are heading to the travel agent tomorrow to book up for next year …so please if you’re reading this keep it quiet until we get booked up! If you are staying here enjoy it we are extremely jealous!

A comfortable hotel with obliging staff , good location and ample provisions at meal times . Buffet breakfast well stocked and replenished. Pre booked evening meals had fair choice options for all tastes but limited if vegetarian or gluten free.Travelled as a group and well looked after in the main by friendly staff willing to help when asked.

Stayed for a week at this great hotel ideally located near a good beach, great restaurants, Forio (which is a beautiful town) and a good bus route. Good pool area and a nice chilled atmosphere. Great base to explore the beautiful island of Ischia.
