Guest House la Grancontessa

Situato a pochi passi dalla stazione centrale di Santa Maria Novella, ma in una strada molto silenziosa e fuori dal caos. Arredamento semplice, ma realizzato con elementi di design che lo rendono molto stiloso e allo stesso tempo accogliente. Personale estremamente gentile. Pulizia impeccabile. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Lo consiglio vivamente.

Make sure before you go on a trip to Italy, that you have some Euros with you. From the airport, we took the train to Florence. The hotel we stayed at was very clean. La Grancontessa. 17 Via Fiume, Florence, Italy 50123, Firenze, Italia. The receptionist was helpful and accommodating. I met the 2 Filipina cleaning ladies. They were both very welcoming and their shopping tips were very helpful. Their welcoming attitude towards us made us feel at home and safe. On checkout day, I met the young son of one of the cleaning ladies. It warmed my heart to know they can actually bring their child to work instead of paying extra for childcare. The son was not at all in the way of his mother’s work. I was impressed that an employer would allow that. It speaks volume of him and how he treats his employees. I would stay in this hotel again in the future. Needless to say I highly recommend this hotel. The location was very ideal. Close to a supermarket, restaurants, the train station, the convention center, etc.

The location is great especially if you are arriving or departing by train at Santa Maria Novella. The staff were very friendly and helpful, a special mention for Ari. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable with a great bed and shower. Availability of water, coffee and cookies in lobby is excellent idea. The entrance to the building and stairs and lift are used by other occupants in the building. The lift is a little dated and the common areas are not always particularly clean. Caffé degli Innocenti just a 5 minute walk around the corner in Via Nazionale, is a great place for a complete, affordable breakfast at 5.50 Euros with coffee, juice, small sandwich and pastry. All major attractions and many restaurants are all withing a 20 minute walk. I would highly recommend the Grancontessa.
