Only recently reopened having been extensively renovated. What a refresh the place has had. Everything is spotless with a traditional rustic feel. Inside the main bar it’s warm and inviting. I was surprised how busy the place was for a Tuesday night. Great service from the happy bar staff. Awesome food. Great atmosphere.

Booked direct with hotel in mid August as had been there before and was happy with B&B and with dinner. Six weeks later we rolled up late afternoon for 3 nights and found a notice on the door saying it was closed for technical reasons. Thought it was for a day but my wife went to a local house and asked for info and was told they just upped sticks one Sunday and haven't been seen since. No phone call or even email to us or others who had booked and no notice to staff although it seems they have since received back pay but unclear about redundancy. Just what you don't need and we were lucky it was mid week and we got rooms in Edzell as they were all booked at the weekends.

Every time I went there I had excellent meals. The venison was especially good. Unfortunately since August the Ramsay Arms is no longer open and all the staff were let go for an unknown reason. Locals have no idea when or even if they will ever open again.

On a wet night we turned up to find the hotel in darkness without any notice of cancellation of our booking for several nights; the staff had been sacked a few days earlier over the next days we found from local talk that many others had been similarly dumped in this outrageous way; the lovely local people shared our anger that the good name of their town has been dragged down

Stayed over for two nights as attending wedding nearby at Fasque. Staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and catered for all our needs. Nice selection of drinks at the bar that are reasonably priced. Good choice for breakfast that is made to order. Full Scottish highly recommended.

What a gem. Staff are fantastic and the food is amazing. Best Cullen skink ever mads the 200 mile trip worthwhile and the steak pie would satisfy Desperate Dan. A lovely quiet little village and comfy beds make for a relaxing night. Nothing was too much trouble and we will be visiting again.

We visited with a group of friends for dinner. We had Cullen skink, sauté squid and prawns, lamb shank and tagine. All the food was hearty, well cooked and in very generous portions. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will return when we next are in the area.

Enjoyed a fantastic meal at Ramsay Arms Hotel at the weekend. Everything from friendliness of staff, quality and choice of food to atmosphere of the restaurant was 1st class - will most definitely be back, hopefully next time will be able to stay over. Keep up the good work!!!!!

Stayed here for a comfortable night. Bedroom was spacious and clean. Had a very tasty dinner with friends. Reasonably priced. Good choices for breakfast. All staff friendly and welcoming. Plenty of free parking
