Malacuna Peniche

GPS sent us to the wrong place at first but Selina is on the quiet side of town. It is a hostel so did not expect the Ritz Carlton. We booked two private rooms since we were two adults traveling with our grown children. Rooms were clean, simple and had everything you could need. Rooms were on the backside of the hotel so we were able to open the window with privacy to freshen the room. The Selina is not what I would typically book since it is casual and for younger adults but I never felt out of place. The staff is absolutely wonderful. Everyone is very friendly, helpful and they make you feel welcome. Like you are hanging out at their home. We were able to enjoy the wonderful breakfast and even took a surf lesson (which I highly recommend.) the instructors were patient, fun and made sure we caught waves. You can tell they love what they do. Only complaint is that it is a bit noisy at night but nothing a pair of earplugs can’t fix.

Estamos alojados em Ferrel e á noite viemos ao Selina mas só viemos ao bar. Muita simpatia e alegria de quem nos serviu, bebidas no ponto. Musica ambiente espectacular. Tornou a noite ainda mais especial! Havemos de voltar com certeza. Obrigado

Sooooo much love within these beautiful souls, willing to help with anything i needed! I also formed more connections here. The food was amazing - i had falafel & fries! Bar/restaurant, skate ramp etc.. All round, funky place with a chill vibe! Jah Bless

Great place to stay if you're need a place to work & surf. Friendly staff, knowledgeable about the area (do the free surf tip session!). It was the perfect place to get my surf in, and find good wifi and quiet co-working space to work afterwards. Would definitely recommend it!

The name is a bit misleading at it is in Baleal/Ferrel not in Peniche. People got confused cause Peniche has a street with the same name. I recommend not to book the breakfast ahead because the restaurant opens quite late and you might not have the change to take it. I could not enjoy 2 out of 3 breakfasts I had already paid for - the restaurants opens at 8:30 am, meeting for the surf session in the morning was at 8:45 am. So I wasted my money here. The Mexican restaurant is amazing, loved very single dish there! The portions are quite small so you have to order 2, but the prices are not too high. Waitresses are very slow unfortunately, you have to wait a long time until someone finally sees you. Kitchen and dorm were not the cleanest. Nobody used the small pool as it looked quite ugly and dirty. What I disliked most was the huge locker obove the bed. You don't have a lot of space so I hurt my knee a couple times at the sharp edge. Interior is nice, Yoga session was for free and quite nice too. If you are sensitive with noise be aware that the halfpipe in front of the house is quite loud. Distance to the beaches is fine, there are amazing deserted beaches behind the house (walk inside the second street on the right and climb down the rocks). Would not stay there again, I think it is overrated.

Muy buen hostel, gente muy buena onda!! El personal increíble, un chico llamado Karan nos trato muy bien en la recepción. Espero volver más adelante, buena música y comida, ambiente, skate, todo cool. Además Baleal tiene muy buena olas, todo es increíble!!
