Premier Inn East Grinstead

Avoid. This hotel needs a complete renovation and upgrade as it smells musty and damp in the rooms, bathroom, bedding and corridors. I have stayed on many lovely Premier Inn hotels and most of them are excellent, but avoid this one until it’s been upgraded.

After travelling 3.5hrs to catch a flight the next morning, we stayed at Premier Inn East Grinstead, on arrival we encountered plenty of car parking, refreshments & a clean comfortable room. But a Special mention must go to Alison on Reception who went above & beyond to be helpful.

Sadly my experience was Not great the first room number 20 smelt of mould the second smelt of cigarettes the person at the front desk was lovely and the place to eat was nice, it's not the best place to stay I wouldn't be staying there again. Sorry to be negative

This was the second tme I have stayed here and it was exactly as I remembered. Easy check in, nice, clean and comfortable room that was perfect to lock myself away in to recharge after a hectic day. The room had everything I needed for my 2 night stay and only lacked one thing.... a plug socket on the same side of the room as the bed! Only USB charger points available that side, which is slightly annoying as it meant I had to actually leave the bed to turn the alarm off on my phone (although this could also be viewed as a benefit!) I must say that the food quality in the restaurant has deteriorated from last year. The "hash browns" were awful. Cheap and tasteless and slightly undercooked both days. The evening meal the first night also did not live up to last years standard. Their version of a hunters chicken "smothered in Barbers cheese" Barely any cheese on it at all. And what's with the mini frying pans to serve it in? Pop it on the plate, don't leave my chicken swimming in grease! Never fear though, there is a perfectly lovely Nepalese restaurant a 3 minute drive away that I thoroughly recommend. Will I stay again? Yes. Will I eat out again? Also yes. Will I eat breakfast there again? Yes, but probably a continental.

I stayed in other premier inns and they are all good. Had to have a operation the next day so stayed the night to save a 2-3 hour drive as had problems on the m25 and it took 6 hours and have a good night but stayed near a fire door along the corridor and all night all you can hear is the door banging and kids and adults screaming all the time and to top it off someone’s phone alarm went off at 05:30 in the room above us. On the door they could have the slow shut hinge but it looks like one of the premier inns that gets forgot for updating. Needs a good update and a desperate clean. mould in bathroom,things missing.,mirror all around the edges have started to go and the skin having hair line cracks Was going to stay next week but we think it will be better to do the 2-3 hour drive

Hotel needs a refurb - basic, tired looking, downstairs room smelt of damp - asked to be moved as soon as we walked in and the very helpful member of staff on duty did move us to another room but to be fair it wasn't much better luckily it was only for one night as enroute to Gatwick Airport - would put me off booking with a Premier Inn again.
