"Beautiful small hotel in the countryside. The interior designer and architect did an incredible job by creating the impression to be in a simple and stylish countryside mansion but maintaining a 5 star quality at all times. We stayed for 7 days in the Grand Suite with Plunge Pool which is beautiful and must have been recently renovated as everything looked impeccable. However, what makes this place absolutely outstanding is the staff. Everyone at the reception is incredibly friendly. They manage to create the impression that you are staying with friends of friends. The heart and soul of the team is Pasquale, the head concierge, who did an outstanding job. Do follow his and Fortunnato’s ( also really knowledgeable and lovely) recommendations! They know what they are doing. They are from the region and their recommendations were always great! I need to mention Gusseppina ( Gusy) who is working in the restaurant. Such a sweet and lovely person who provides outstanding service. I would highly recommend to rent a car. Besides the beautiful sights all around which you should visit, it is very nice to leave the hotel for lunch and dinner. Don‘t misunderstand me, the restaurant is great. But you can get a more authentic, simple and way better priced alternative, if you are looking for a true Italian experience."

"We stayed here for a couple of nights, the pool is absolutely fabulous and kept very clean! The kids really enjoyed it. The rooms were a good size, modern and very clean. The mini fridge was amazing as it was very cold, so great for storing anything really. Our air conditioning worked quite well but other residents said there rooms weren't great with air conditioning and their rooms were very warm even with air conditioning on. I personally found the beds very hard and did sleep great at all during our stay. The towels provided were also very thin. Breakfast was lovely in the mornings but very small selection provided. Lunch we found limited selection and finished very early in the afternoon @ 2pm. Although food selection was limited, the food was nice. We did not have dinner here during our stay - we went out for dinner elsewhere."

"I attended a wedding at Casale del Murgese in May 2025. During the event, my rare film camera was stolen in what should have been a safe, fully staffed environment. The management was rude, dismissive, and unhelpful, showing no willingness to take responsibility. Some of the operational staff tried to assist and showed concern, but their efforts were completely overshadowed by the management’s lack of professionalism. Because of how poorly the situation was handled, guests spent much of the evening trying to locate the missing camera, rather than enjoying the celebration. This significantly affected the overall experience of the day. I would strongly advise others – especially those hosting important events – to think twice before choosing this venue."

"Masseria San Domenico is an exquisitely restored 15th C. farmhouse and villa nearby the sea surrounded by gardens and olive groves containing centuries old trees. The Malpignano family originally purchased the property as a vacation home with matriarch Marisa Lisi Melpignano spearheading its transformation. After many years when the children of the family were grown, the decision was made to turn the property ino a hotel. Around 15 years ago, the family built the nearby resort Borgo Egnazia, which is much larger and designed to simulate an Italian village. We visited to see the property but prefer Masseria San Domenico. Also, Borgo Egnazia welcomes children and families. The highlight to me as a swimmer is the 50 meter long swimming pool set naturalistically into the landscape and partially filled with sea water. Absolutely a joy to swim in! Guest rooms and public areas are tastefully furnished. Branded linens and toiletries, robes and slippers are provided. The food is outstanding! All of the staff are friendly and accommodating. This was the last hotel on our bike trip and certainly far and away the best. Highly recommend and hope to return! We were so enchanted by the property and the vision of Marisa Lisi Melpignano that we purchased the hefty volume documenting its history and development. The family also has established a foundation in Puglia to preserve the history and land of the area. And we just had to purchase a quantity of their spectacular olive oil to take home!"
