Farlam Hall Hotel & Restaurant

Beautiful stay. The staff were so attentive, friendly, welcoming and helpful on the front desk. We dined at The Cedar Tree and had an amazing time. The food was sensational. So much effort and detail in everything. Finesse and perfection for every course. We can’t wait to come back and dine again.

The house and grounds are beautiful. The rooms are elegant, in a stunning setting. The tasting menu is simply amazing, so creative, and served by helpful and knowledgeable staff. Absolutely everyone at Farlam Hall goes out of their way to make your stay memorable.

Wonderful stay at Farlam Hall, warm friendly welcome and looked after perfectly throughout our stay. Room was immaculate and so cozy, the pre-dinner cocktails were delicious however the tasting meal was the 'star of the show' truly outstanding. We will stay again.

We chose this hotel due to a recommendation from someone who had stayed before. It was a celebration of our friend retiring and we could not have chosen better. The location is stunning, and on arrival, we were made welcome by Kirsty, who was very friendly and attentive. Once settled in our rooms, we took the opportunity of walking around the gardens and enjoyed a drink in the bar, which had a lovely, calm atmosphere. After freshening up, we then had pre dinner drinks in the lounge, and Simon presented us with the dinner menu. He gave a brief explanation of each dish and allowed us some time to choose. Simon took us to our table, after which the starters were served. I had a salmon dish, which was amazing. We had all chosen the beef for the main course and the meat was perfectly cooked. It came with generous amounts of vegetables and a cauliflower cheese. It was really tasty (and filling). After a break myself and my friend and I had a creme brulee, which was also amazing. Our wives were too full for desserts and simply had a coffee, which they both enjoyed. We had a fantastic night's sleep on the very comfortable beds. The bedroom and bathroom were very well appointed and due to the location it was very quiet. Simon had already told us that there was plenty of choice for breakfast and he was not wrong. I enjoyed a full English, and everything on the plate tasted so fresh. We all had a wonderful stay and will certainly be recommending the hotel to our friends and family.

We enjoyed a one night stay at Farlam Hall and can't recommend this highly enough. Everything was superb from the moment we arrived, even being met at our car and then greeted by staff and, to my delight, Hrishikesh Desai himself, in the reception area. What a fantastic welcome. We were given a tour of the hotel so we knew where everything was and I'm sure if it hadn't been raining we could have asked for a tour of the kitchen garden too. That's one for next time! Our room was spacious and well equipped and fresh milk was brought up straight away - no fiddly milk sachets here! We were at the front of the hotel and had comfy seats to sit and enjoy the views over the garden. Everything was immaculate and it was clear that nothing would have been too much trouble if we needed anything. We ate in the Cedar Tree restaurant and enjoyed (an understatement!) the 12 course tasting menu along with the wine flight (for one of us). I might have expected that, with 12 courses, there would be something we didn't enjoy so much but it truly was an exceptional menu from start to finish with every dish a real delight. Highlights for me were "Garden spinach and chicken" - crispy chicken skin and spinach in a tempura batter (only on one side - how do they do that!), perfectly balanced with sweet yoghurt and tamarind chutney. Tastes and textures in perfect harmony. The Cornish lobster was exceptional and the accompanying carrot cannelloni was superb. All the restaurant staff were so well informed and knowledgeable about the menu and so obviously wanted us to enjoy the experience. The sommelier had a wealth of knowledge about the wines and matched them perfectly throughout the meal. Breakfast was delicious with local produce very much in evidence (as it was for dinner). The homemade granola was wonderful. I could go on but there aren't enough superlatives to describe this outstanding experience. The room, the food, the service and the staff were all exceptional (that word again!). We have already booked to return.

First, I need to apologise for my tardiness / delay in leaving this review.  My Wife and I were blessed to be able to stay at Farlam Hall to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary in September last year.  We stayed for 3 nights in a junior suite in the main house, which was spacious, beautifully decorated and immaculate.  Put quite simply from our arrival to our departure our stay was amazing.  All the staff were excellent, gracious, polite and nothing was too much trouble.  We were looked after very well; everyone went out of their way to proactively make our stay both individual and special. Everything was amazing – Thank you. Apologies as we are not able to remember everyone’s name that we met - Thanks to Alex and Kate and without question a thank you to all the staff.  On that note we were very privileged to meet the main man himself – Hrishikesh Desai.  Thank you to you and your team for 3 days of amazing food, wonderful service, and attention to detail.  The tasting menu was exceptional and the Chateaubriand was …..well….divine.  I would absolutely recommend Farlam Hall without exception.  We look forward to seeing you again soon.
