La Maison des Buis

A lovely visit for 2 nights, hosted by Brigitte and Gilles. Very pleasant bedroom up a circular staircase. Gilles volunteered to take our case up as I find stairs a bit difficult. The bedroom was a good size with a nice separate bathroom. It overlooks a road but that didn’t pose a problem. The bed was large and comfortable. Brigitte phoned the only restaurant that was open in Falaise on the Sunday so that we could book a table. The second night we sat in their lovely garden and enjoyed a bottle of wine and some charcuterie we bought that morning. They were quite happy for us to do so and produced glasses, plates, cutlery. Breakfast was cereals and fruit juices, croissants, bread, cheese, a choice of 4 delicious homemade jams and some fresh, again homemade, petites madeleines. Lovely. When you arrive you can park on the pavement outside and once you have unloaded, you move your car 25 yards round the corner to a parking area. Do visit. We really enjoyed it.

We loved everything about Maison des Buis. Gilles and Brigitte are fabulous hosts and have created a very special place. We were only stopping for one night en route to the Loire Valley, but could happily have stayed longer to explore Falaise and the surrounding area. Our room was delightful, very characterful, extremely comfortable and quiet. The bathroom was again beautifully done. It's a short walk to the centre of the small town of Falaise with decent restaurants and bars. Breakfast was superb with Brigitte having made the jams, cakes and home grown fruits, plus delicious pastries. We hope to return!
