The Globe

Stopping off in Devon for a few days break, we were very pleased with our stay at The Globe. While the property is very far from being an "all singing all dancing" modern hotel (no elevator for example); it has buckets of charm and is situated in an excellent location. Our room was certainly spacious and very clean and well appointed and everything worked perfectly. The bar was great fun - thank you - and Topsham supports very many restaurants, including two world class venues - but be warned: make sure to book well in advance! In addition Topsham is very well served by regular trains into Exeter and beyond and Exmouth - so it makes a great base to explore the South West coast. There were however a couple of negatives. Firstly, despite the clear guidance given by The Globe, the parking (unloading and loading) is a bit of a pain on the narrow street and the actual (paid) parking lot is some way from the hotel. Secondly the service in the restaurant was heart breakingly abysmal. Our dinner was clearly lovingly prepared by the kitchen, and then left to go cold before we got it. We also waited a very long time for drinks, as did many other tables, and the service itself was cursory to say the least (no offer to taste our wine for example, they just opened the bottle and brought it to the table). Would we go back? Yes, very probably. It's a very nice hotel with a great deal going for it - we would just choose to eat at one of the many other restaurants in town or in Exeter.

Very nice night here. Super pleasant and helpful staff and a plentiful and delicious breakfast. We will come again! This olde worldly pub has a great atmosphere and is popular with local people. We slept in room 6 it was quiet, not huge but had everything we needed.

Not our first visit to this stunning Devon haven and definitely won't be our last. The staff and customer service is amazing, and the location is perfect for adventures in south Devon. The rooms are great, the food is great. Thank you to all at The Globe for always making our stays memorable.

This was a lovely long weekend away. the place itself is an old coaching inn that has been extended and updated in some areas and has both some modern rooms at the back, along with some existing older rooms within the building itself. The place itself is popular, and rightly so. The food is very good (whether you want breakfast, lunch, or dinner or bar snacks) and the beers are pretty good too. The atmosphere is nice, all the bar staff seem to have been recruited because they are friendly and helpful. I think we were probably travelling a little 'out of season' so I would think in popular months it must get very busy - but for us we didn't have any delays, and as I say the food was good. There is no parking here - they are very upfront and say this on the website, but there is street parking and surface car parks (both of which are chargeable) nearby. All day parking between 9 and 5 will cost you £5.50. We stayed in one of the old rooms within the main building. Again, because it's a pub, you can hear the bar, restaurant and seating areas.....but this becomes quiet as soon as the place closes, and if you are really concerned with it, then just put the in room TV on. The room itself was pretty comfortable and has all the amenities you'd expect - kettle, coffee machine, TV, ironing board, as well as a rather swish air cooler. All in all a lovely stay for a few days. Definitely would recommend

Lovely Inn in Topsham Great location with comfortable rooms. When you book they warn that there are no quiet rooms and they are correct. Our room above the bar was very loud, but once the bar closed at 11:30 it was quiet and we got a good nights sleep. A great place to stay in Topsham

A beautiful old fashioned pub in the village of Topsham which is stylishly furnished with a blend of old and new. The downside was our room was above the main bar and very noisy . Also no parking and no facility to purchase a ticket for the car park in advance resulting in having to wake up early to go on the app ! The food in the restaurant was fabulous!
