The Wood Norton

An amazing building with historical connections. The bathroom was good, with deep bath and good mains water pressure. But the bedroom needed serious update. No mains lighting in the bedroom or hallway, just plug in side lights by the bed and a standard lamp on old fashioned round pin plug in hall. I had to use a torch to move round the bedroom. The lift wasn't working, although the membet of staff managed some manoeuvre to get it working which I couldn't replicate. Restaurant was ok but the standard of a reasonable pub, not fine dining. Menu was a bit odd - steak and chips, fish and chips style or "venison pudding" which was a huge stodgy pastry with over cooked dry meat inside. Breakfast buffet was very nice, but too dark in that room also. Six jams and marmalades in open jars with no way of knowing what they were, and no little dishes to put them in to take to your seat. Service at breakfast had to be sought out, no one in site. Breakfast bacon was inedible - cooked previously then reheated. Overall, it is a fascinating place but needs a big overall and review of what they are offering.

Cet hôtel est un pur plaisir. Une chambre spacieuse, très propre avec tout ce qu'il faut. Petit-déjeuner excellent et très copieux et les repas on se croirait dans un restaurant gastronomique mais avec la quantité en plus. Les jardins magnifique et le restaurant, bar etc.....trop beau et cocooning. Franchement 10/10. Je le recommande vivement et très correct niveau prix pour tout ce qu'il nous offre.

The hotel is elegant and full of history with its beautiful wood panelled rooms. Our bedroom was clean, spacious, tastefully furnished and well equipped. The food was excellent and the staff could not have done more for us. They were helpful and accommodating.... However, the pillows were hard, lumpy and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, there was a fan/ air-conditioning unit that could not be turned off making the room very noisy. The control unit did not work and I am a very light sleeper so my three night stay meant that I had very little sleep, which was not good. That was the main drawback. Such a shame a quiet room with soft pillows would have made it perfect.

Great place to visit. Rooms not only spacious but comfortable with big beds. Breakfast has a great choice to suit most tastes. Evening meal was nicely served with reasonable choice. Staff very friendly & helpful. Good spot as a base to visit the Cotswolds.

We had a wonderful two night stay with old friends at The Wood Norton. We loved the property and it's situation ...the Manager and all staff members were polite, helpful and courteous throughout. The wood panelling and carvings really impressed us..particularly as it was of a golden colour and not dark mahogany as with most stately homes. We all enjoyed our meals and to be in such a beautiful building was an absolute delight. The beds were large and extremely comfortable too! The hotel was so convenient for exploring that area of the Cotswolds like Broadway, Chipping Campden, Hidcote Garden etc ..not to mention Bretforton and it's amazing pub 'The Fleece Inn'. " We shall be back" !

We stayed here together with my mother and sister. The hotel is charming, the building set inside a nice garden. The receptionist who greeted us was friendly and professional. Our room preferences were well provided and were both spacious and well equipped. Unfortunately the positives end there. We ordered sandwiches at the bar shortly after arriving and had a very long wait. I don't normally criticise above average prices as long as you eat well and are well served, which did not happen in this case. It was here that we discovered that the remainder of the staff were very unfriendly and totally unprepared for work in the hotel business. The only exception was a young Asian waitress at breakfast who did her best to serve in a friendly manner. However it wasn't enough to remove the extremely cold atmosphere which surrounded our stay. We cancelled our evening meal based upon our experience at the bar instead opting to eat out in Evesham. The experience at breakfast confirmed that we made the correct decision. Very disappointing for a 4* hotel and would not recommend it to anyone.

Another great visit to this wonderful hotel. The staff and wonderful food make this one of the best places to stay. A warm and friendly welcome continues with the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. The owners are hands on, making you appreciate their efforts to ensure you have a great stay The food is fantastic…oh to dine like that every day! We can’t rate this place enough and look forward to coming back soon with friends

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and we certainly were not disappointed. This time we had a lovely room in the main hotel. The bed was clean and comfortable, probably needs a feather duster around the ceiling to clear the cobwebs! The shower is very powerful and hot. Only caution would be that water sprays on the tiled floor, making it like an ice rink. We had to lay towels to stop from slipping. We ate breakfast on both days and the food was fantastic, very filling! Lovely coffee too. We also had a cream tea on one day and dinner too. All the meals were well presented and very tasty. We sat outside on the terrace for our cream tea. It was a pity that the seat cushions were wet and the sun umbrellas were torn. The staff are friendly, attentive and efficient. In all, a lovely 2 night stay and we were pleased we had returned.

Very comfortable stay for 2 nights in the main building on second floor. Bed clean and comfortable, bathroom in need of freshening up in bath area with chipped tiles and black grout. Staff very friendly and polite. Beeakfast very good and lovely coffee. We had dinner on 1 night and very nice, although wines very expensive. Grounds were in need of some TLC with grim cushions and very stained parasols. There is quite a lot of traffic noise too.
