Nicky's Resort

The sound insulation is terrible, so I can hear everything about the next room. The blankets and towels are not clean, either.

Nicky's is going completely automated at this writing. We made reservations and were not made aware of this when we booked directly through the resort's website. When we arrived what was the front office was locked up, all the windows are papered over and we were facing a handful of papers with QR codes taped to the door! Gee what a nice welcome (sarcasm) Here's the way it works: when you book you get an email the morning of your arrival with a code for your room door and there's no check in, no human to greet you nor is there any staffer on site to help you if you have a problem once you're checked in i.e. loud neighbors, broken anything. We got to our room which was cute, lots of bear themed cabin things, the room was clean. The toilet and sink worked, the fireplace didn't work, nor did the heater (the morning was cold) nor did an outlet for our charger. We couldn't get a sliding screen door open to go outside on the unit's back door. We did have QR codes taped to the wall in case we needed anything, but frankly at 11 pm we weren't in the mood to deep dive into computerland and figuring out instructions. The level of impersonal service was something we found surprising, and we both felt like if anything else did go wrong we were just left hanging and any resolution was OUR responsibility. This situation might be OK for some people, but anyone not savvy with QR codes and reading instructions on your phone with no one to help you won't find this pleasant. Nor will anyone like us who like to know there's someone on site to help us. Its basic customer service and hospitality, which is just not present here. And as travelers we forgive some things in hotels but this experience left us with the feeling of "give us your money and leave us alone". Not going back.

Would stay again. Room was big and nice and clean.
