The Encinitan Hotel & Suites

Checked in with Jeff very easy yet not very personable. Amenities extra $15/day even if you’re not using. Gym pool spa internet parking buffet breakfast. No disability parking in front door entrance only back (which was to far away from room) no help offered with luggage (only self service heavy push carts) Did not ask if I wanted help or if I was going to utilize these amenities. Room smelled of heavy use chemicals to clean room. (Could taste it). Ocean view claim with balcony was actually only seen if you walked and peered to the left. Bed not the most comfortable. Exit room door would slam at night very loud. Walk in tile shower floor slippery while showering and shower head had very low pressure.

DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE PEOPLE! I booked on 3/22 and immediately figured out that I needed to cancel. They indicate that you must cancel via the same method you booked, but when I tried to cancel there was no option to do so online (despite being well within the cancellation window). So, I email them - and get no response. I then get an invoice for the full length of the stay despite having cancelled and despite the cancellation fee being only 1 night (if you don't cancel before 24 hours ahead of arrival date). I then call them and email them multiple time and still get no response. I've now had to dispute the charge via my credit card. Super shady practices.

This was once a Best Western hotel, and it defeats me why it still isn’t. Magnificent building, with large rooms. It really could be spectacular. However, the rooms are dreary, with various shades of brown. The website photos show rugs, but there are none, leaving an endless, cold underfoot expanse of brown. The rooms need colour added, and generally updating. A fridge just placed randomly on the floor was unacceptable, as there was a cabinet in which it could be placed. All a bit lazy and complacent. It is overpriced for the time of year we stayed, as the pool was obviously not going to be used. Breakfast was poor, with few healthy options, and the same eggs, meat patties provided three days running. Staff were welcoming and efficient. Noise. Not the fault of the hotel, but pretty bad. Trains run pretty constantly just below the hotel, sounding their horns excessively. It is an on going issue for Encinitas

Very convenient location off the #5 and near Coast Hwy. The staff are very kind and helpful. The rooms are adequate (maybe a blanket that pulls all the way up to the pillows would help taller people). The breakfast is average and could be improved or simply go to one of the great restaurants on Coast Hwy. For business in the area, it is a great option. It is best to pay extra for an ocean view room on the 3rd floor with a low 300's number. The rooms on the East side of the hotel with higher numbers have quite a bit of freeway noise and the view is mostly of a shopping center parking lot (The "Parkview" is really "Parking Lot view with freeway noise." I will continue to come to this hotel when I am in the area.

The reviews seem to give a lot of hate for this hotel. The rooms are older but at least the king room we had was at some point refurbished with a nice tv, nice bed and a decent view on a large balcony. Bathrooms have decent showers, the only negative is the water has a bit of a odour. Details that are missing is there are no plugs on the side closest to the balcony. The bottoms of the door frames in the bathroom are heavily rusted out. The walls that lead to the corridor and the balcony seem to be not very soundproof which leads to pedestrian noise/road noise. All in all for what we paid we were happy, would stay here again, seems like all the coastal hotels that are not 5* have pluses and minus, this one was pretty good all around.

SO WANDERFUL スタッフの方は、親切で、良かったです．毎日、タオルを変えてくれるし、ゴミも回収してもらえる。安心、安全で、朝食も付いています．床がフローリングなので、清潔で良かったです。
