Cardedeu

I'm not sure why this hotel got so many bad reviews back in the past, but to me it was one of the best hotels in El Salvador. First off, the location. It's on a south facing side of the lake. It's important because that means the rooms have a view of the lake and you can also see both sunrise and sunset right from your room. The rooms are very well thought through. Private, quiet, comfortable bed, large mirror, everything is working. But rooms is only a small part. They have everything you need to enjoy the water. All kinds of rentals (kayaks, paddle boards, jet), place to swim and to sun batch. Also, they have a restaurant and plenty Instagram grade photo spots. Yes, I can see them hosting events but they have enough capacity to absorb a lot of visitors without them running into each other.

I would like to bring to your attention our recent experience at Cardedeu Hotel. My husband and I have been coming to the location for years now and, we consider ourselves to be regular guests. We got engaged, and almost planned our wedding there. Every single time we’ve come all of your staff have been extremely friendly and welcoming. Especially Alejandra she’s always helped us through our stays. However our experience today wasn’t as pleasant, my husband and I came down to the restaurant for breakfast around 9:30ish and we waited for about 20 minutes to talk to a waitress. All the staff were having breakfast and they did not bother to come and hand us a menu, In fact we had to get up and ask for one. And the server told us the they would come serve us when they finished eating. They even had taken all the seats with shade and left us with the worse spots which were under the sun and getting bitten by ants. When at the moment of check out the receptionist informed us that breakfast was from 0700-1100am. I completely understand the cultural differences or if it even has anything to do with it. But we believe it was unprofessional, we never had to experience anything like this at any other hotels. When we finished eating, a dog walked up to our table and started licking the plates where we ate, and the staff did not do anything about the incident. We believe a stray dog licking the plates where your guest eat is beyond unsanitary and dangerous for the health of your guest. We enjoy the hotel and this is the first time we’ve ever had to make a complain hope you take note of this matter and solve some of the issues.

Mi esposa y yo fuimos invitados a una boda así que me llevé a mis hijos y reservé una habitación frente al lago con acceso directo para que mis hijos me esperarán y luego llevarlos a la piscina. La entrada al hotel es incomodísima, Un sedán mediano tendrá dificultades, con camioneta fue aún más dificil. La recepción es muy sencilla, las personas amables, El acceso a las habitaciones se hace por una escalera de piedra que tiene agua. Mi esposa iba ya vestida para la boda y caminar en esas escalera estrechas fue muy desagradable. No hay acceso directo del estacionamiento a las habitaciones. Primero subes las escalera de piedra hasta la recepción y desde ahí bajas por la misma rampa que usan los vehiculos para llegar al parqueo. Cargas tus cosas hasta la recepción por la rampa, esquivando vehículos y luego bajas por las mismas gradas. El estacionamiento es pequenísimo. Fue una verdadera tortura sacar el carro sin golpear a los otros. La comida, si bien es buena es carísima. Unos pancakes por 10 dálares, un bowl de fruta por 10 dólalres. La piscina pequena, sin calefacción. Cuando hice la reserva me dijeron que no había restricción de horario para usarla pero en la recepción me dijeron que hasta las 10 pm. La habitación con vista al lago. en la noche, a pesar de tener cerrado todo, siempre hay insectos cayendo a la cama. El baño no tiene llave por loq eu tienes que saber que alguien está ahí para no pasar sorpresas. No he quedado invitado a regresar.

El Cardedeu Coatepeque no es un lugar que recomendaría a nadie. Aunque la ubicación y las vistas son fenomenales, el servicio y la gestión de sus reservas fue atroz. Reservé dos habitaciones, una para mí y mi esposa y otra para mi hija y su familia, con un año de anticipación. Íbamos a asistir a una boda y teníamos intención de quedarnos dos noches. A mi llegada no se encontró mi reserva, a pesar de que tenía copias impresas de mi confirmación que recibí directamente del Hotel Cardeudeu. Después de mostrar la confirmación, solo pudieron encontrar una habitación, que no era una habitación, era un contenedor de envío en el techo del hotel. Después de eso, pasaron horas tratando de emitir un reembolso, sin embargo, esto no fue aceptable ya que todavía estábamos sin habitación y sin ningún lugar donde ir. Su solución fue enviarnos a otro hotel, que en realidad era un hostal. Al día siguiente nos pudieron alojar en una habitación que era una de la cual habia reservado originalmente. Se suponía que se reembolsaría el precio de una habitación por una noche, pero ya han pasado 8 semanas desde el incidente que fue el 23 de Febrero y todavia no he recibido el reembolso. He probado varios medios para hacer un seguimiento de la situación con la gerencia, sin embargo, el problema aún no se ha resuelto. En general, esta experiencia fue y sigue siendo desagradable y estresante. Este hotel es un ejemplo de espejismo. Lo que ves en Instagram y en la publicidad de hoteles es puramente para mostrar. Las comodidades y las habitaciones no son como se anuncian. La piscina estaba descuidada y había contenedores de transporte amueblados como habitaciones. Estas “habitaciones” de contenedores de envío no se anuncian en su sitio ni en ninguna otra forma de publicidad o medio. Dormir en una caja de metal significaba que la “habitación” en sí hace mucho calor durante el día y la noche. Todo esto fue después de que perdieron nuestra reserva, después de haber pagado con un año de anticipación. Esta fue una experiencia mediocre para un hotel que tiene una reputación como el Cardedeu.

My husband booked a room but the hotel cancelled the reservation. He was charged anyway and the hotel REFUSED to refund the charge. Very upset with their business practices! Be very careful when making a reservation online with this company!

Cardeudeu Coatepeque Hotel is an example of a mirage. What you see on Instagram and hotel advertising is purely for show. The amenities and rooms are not as advertised. The pool was neglected and there were shipping containers furnished as rooms. These shipping container “rooms” are not advertised on their site nor any other form of advertising or media. Sleeping in a brown mental box in 30+ meant that the “room” itself was very hot during the day. On one occasion, our container lost power, and then another, lost water. We went to our family member’s room to shower and it was clogged and backed up. Given the elegance, price, reviews and the gorgeous scenery, we expected more. This was all after our reservation was lost, after having paid one year in advanced. This was a subpar experience for a hotel that carries a reputation like the Cardeudeu.
