In general, I love staying at I Prefer hotels, and specifically seek them out because of the benefits. I recently stayed at Inn By The Sea, and they offered me all the I Prefer benefits, and we had a great stay. This was not the case with Wequassett Resort & Golf Club. When I checked into Wequassett Resort & Golf Club, I explained I was an I Prefer Member and requested a complimentary upgrade. The customer service manager coldly told me this wasn’t a benefit. At that point, I showed him the I Prefer website to prove it was a benefit and told him I stayed at Inn By The Sea just last week, and they honored it. At that point, he told me no upgrades were available. I checked the hotel website after, and plenty of upgraded rooms looked still available. It was disappointing. They also charged me for the regular rate even though I used 30,000 IPrefer points. I called and complained, and they told me they would fix it. On April 22nd, I got emailed another copy of the bill, and they STILL didn’t fix it. The room rate should’ve been $347.00 (not $413.00 like their receipt says) as I booked through and used I prefer points. It’s not the small amount of money; it’s the principle of not accurately charging a customer. Finally, we were in room 49, and it looked like a motel room, not anything like the luxurious rooms stayed at other I Prefer properties that we’ve stayed at. Additionally, the shower pressure was low, and water wouldn’t get hot. I think this hotel is very overrated. They have a beautiful pool by the beach (but that’s not open during most of the year), and the restaurant is good with beautiful views. We went to the Easter Brunch there, and it was lovely. However, this doesn’t make up for the dated rooms, especially bad customer service, not extending I Prefer benefits (even though it’s technically an I Prefer hotel), and lack of hot water.
