The Ship at Dunwich

Popped in for lunch on a day trip to the beach. It was busy inside which is a good sign. Food was nice, but quite high prices for a pub. Went for the haddock and chips and a ploughmans. The haddock was good, the ploughmans a little disappointing. Toilets were clean. I get what others have said about flies, we had a few flying around. The decor was quite dark and could do with a refresh. There weren't many other options around so may be why it was busy. It was a good experience rather than very good, but there wasnt an option for that! Not bad :)

Very good service, food was good, menu a little limited and didn't change during our 3 night stay. Room was disappointing, tired and in need of a refurb/freshen up, not what you see on the website, but good shower and comfortable bed. Good atmosphere in the pub, great location. We generally enjoyed our stay.

Yet again, an amazing time at the ship with my wife and our 3 dogs. The weather was brilliant for October, numerous walks on beach or forest, excellent food and an outstanding selection of wines and beer. We have stayed at the ship many times and we all look forward to our next trip

We decided to try The Ship for my birthday today. It was a bit of a disappointment. We were squashed up a corner- the tables are very close together which l don’t like. The food was nice but the service was very slow. For us and others. Some people waited ages to be served. No apologies for late service or lack of service behind the bar. I don’t know if we caught them on an off day but unfortunately we won’t be going back.

Very interesting, old pub with very friendly staff who make for a good stay despite the hotel being badly in need of TLC. We had a good room but would recommend avoiding the stables. The room was however plagued by little flies and had a cracked sink which could be a health hazard.

Clean and tidy but rather tatty overall. No comfy bar area but mixed with dining room. Breakfast service extremely slow. Greyfriars bedroom bathroom has nowhere to put soaps/ shampoos around bath/shower and no towel rail. All staff helpful and friendly

Great atmosphere and welcome. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. We love the food, cocktails and the warm welcome for us with kids and dogs. The rooms are a good size with lovely comfy beds and fluffy towels. I especially appreciate the real coffee in the room. Great location for the beach and also other attractions. We are coming back in a couple of weeks!

Wanting a trip down memory lane, as used to visit the ship for the preceding decades & was delighted to hear it was part of the Chestnut Group took some family and friend for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago. Without exception the feedback was totally disgusted, a waste of money, will never go there again: I have held back hoping that the lunch was a success despite thinking that my vegetarian roast was a completely horrendous disaster ( a huge piece of butternut squash wrapped in a flat piece of puff pastry described as a vegetarian wellington (extra £1.50 for yorkshire pudding), but have since had feedback from my guests on the £133.00 meal for four as being ghastly, revolting, cold food-served by uninterested and snobby staff.....so I feel it's worth letting others know this is a place to avoid-especially for lunch, especially for a roast.........sorry I'm no moaner-but this was a crass waste of money........a nasty rip off.

The team were so accommodating with a late check in, and the breakfast the next day was lovely. Beautiful area of the world, went for a brilliant run from the hotel. Excellent room as well, felt very cosy and chilled. Would definitely come back!
