Merrion Road - Ballsbridge Townhouse

After seeing the high prices for hotels in Dublin we chose a low cost alternative. Reception is only open from noon until 8pm so make sure you can get there during those times. The room was no frills, but large and clean. Bed comfortable. Shower was scalding hot. Front desk said there was no cold water. Next day we had no hot water. Location -bus, Dart train or inexpensive taxi ride from Dublin. A few pubs and restaurants within walking distance; great Thai place. Good choice for a comfortable night but not a vacation resort-type stay.

Nice neighborhood house located in from UK embassy, clean room. You got everything what need for short stay (bath equipment, hair dryer, iron, towels.. Quit good location in 10 minutes walk there are train and bus stations. In 30 minutes you can reach town center on foot.

We stayed in the ground floor appartment for 4 people for 2 nights. It was very clean throughout and well equipped in kitchen area with large table and comfortable chairs, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. The only problem was the bed settee was very uncomfortable and would not go back into a settee to sit on. This was resolved by a single bed being put in the room whilst we were out which suited us fine. The staff were very pleasant although non could speak good English and had difficulty understanding us. We did manage to communicate and all issues were resolved quickly. I found the use of smart phone and app difficult to enter the building and room, would much have preferred a card or key but I am not really up on technology. My niece sorted it for me on her phone but then was the only person with access. Very quiet area but pubs and restaurants were in easy walking distance as was a supermarket and beach. Would definitely stay again, especially in this room that opened out onto a garden with furniture and bar b q
