We had a group of 8 golfers and the Royal Golf Hotel is just a perfect home base when in Dornoch for golf. Service is terrific, location is great, and rooms are uber comfortable. Highly recommended!

A group of us golfers have stayed at the Royal Golf Hotel in early October for the past 8 years or so and will be back next year. The location is super for playing Royal Dornoch, staff are very friendly and the food is of a high standard.

The Royal Golf Hotel is located next to the Golf Club in Dornoch and ideally positioned for golfers staying to play. The restaurant is well positioned with panoramic views across the course to the sea. The hotel is welcoming, cosy and has a friendly staff on hand and a good restauarant. Unfortunately, we were allocated to room 219 at the back of the hotel over the kitchen. This led to an intrusive amount of noise from the kitchen to late evening and starting very early (6am) the next day. Avoid this room if you are a light sleeper - even without my hearing aids in, I was disturbed!

Couple’s golf trip. Quality of hotel somewhat short of the quality of the course. Service and breakfast good and a great view but hotel tired and in areas looked cheap (although nice bathroom but spoilt by a flimsy lock) and rooms with wafer thin walls so a lottery who you end up next to. Silly that the owners don’t take Amex when the average bill will be well into the thousands.

Great overnight stop in our road trip up the coast. The bare area is lovely and breakfast overlooking the course was brilliant. Doggo was made very welcome and as an added bonus the hotel is a hop and a skip/ stroll from an epic little food truck overlooking the water.

Wonderful location overlooking the Dornoch course and just a minutes walk from the first tee , and 10 mins walk to the extensive beach. The hotel itself is a bit dated in places but really has great character and excellent service and food . Highly recommended.

The highlight of our visit for our celebration lunch, was the service of Julia. She was such a lovely, friendly and very attentive waitress. The menu offered a good choice with excellent wines. Lunch was great and the view amazing. Very good value.
