Downton Lodge Country B&B

We were given a very warm welcome and shown to an amazing room. The whole house is very atmospheric and very comfortable. We stayed for 2 nights, had full English breakfast one morning and continental the next and both were delicious. Will definitely return.

Best B/B in Devon by a mile What a fabulous location matched only by the 1st class room we stayed in. Andrew and Martin were the perfect hosts and we will definitely be recommending this brilliant B/B to everyone. It’s the best we’ve stayed in. The beds are comfy, the breakfasts excellent and the room we had was everything you hope for but don’t usually get. Well done guys. We will definitely be coming back.

Had an excellent stay at Downton Lodge for 2 nights. Superb property and well appointed rooms. Whilst located down a working farm track and quite a walk into Dittisham this is made up for by the welcome and the breakfast. You do need regular use of the car. Would recommend and definitely stay again when in the area.

Outstanding Self Catering barn conversion. This was our second visit to Downton Lodge. We previously stayed in the B&B which was fantastic with gorgeous breakfasts. The barn conversion is a home from home, with everything decorated furnished and cleaned to an extremely high standard. I slept so well and enjoyed every moment. Beautiful location so convenient for the ferry to Greenway. Dartmouth is gorgeous; what is not to like. Huge thanks Andrew and Martin.

A super stay. The house is pristine and Andrew and Martin seem to have anticipated any requirements that may arise. We had very comfortable nights with lovely decor in our Art Deco room and also with the highest quality of bedding; better than any that we have experienced elsewhere. Breakfasts were super, in particular the very fresh, fruit salads. The rural location is quiet , with lovely distant views. Very relaxing. Would highly recommend.

We had such a wonderful stay at Downton Lodge. Martin and Andrew are amazing hosts and it’s clear to see how much attention to detail goes into all they do. Our room was lovely, very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Having our own little patio area was perfect as we had our dog with us. She was a very happy pooch as there was a jar of treats in the room for her which was lovely touch. For us there was water and fresh milk in the fridge for teas and coffees (a great selection) and a jar of biscuits. Martin and Andrew have good knowledge of the area and kindly provided maps so we were able to find our way on foot into Dartmouth and local beaches. The B&B is in such a quiet and rural location and we would definitely recommend walking into Dartmouth and taking in the surrounding countryside and woodland. Breakfast was so good! The home made muesli with yoghurt and fresh fruit was delicious and the breakfast cooked by Andrew was perfect! Everything about our stay was spot on! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend staying here! It’s a little gem of a place and we will definitely be booking again.
