Dillard House

We had always wanted to try the Dillard house, we stopped while traveling and were surprised we could get right in. Dinner time and the place was empty save for one table. Now we know why! The food arrived at the table before we were completely seated. The quality of food was horrendous! One melted to mush Stouffer's type, stuffed pepper, a scoop of white mashed potatoes with no gravy, browning coleslaw, tomatoes that were partially dried out from sitting uncovered so long, a random vegetable (corn) straight out of a can and one piece (leg) of soggy, greasy what looked to be boxed oven baked chicken. These new owners serve low quality food and they very obviously do not care how they serve it, keep it or prepare it, and the price was $30 a person!! We actually walked out the food looked so gross and entirely inedible. It resembled slop. Stay away!! Go anywhere else!! It's sad to see a once well respected, famous restaurant turned into this slop hole. The new owners should be ashamed but it's very obvious they do not care.

Too many crawly things to sleep The staff were all friendly, and this is in a safe area with some scenic surroundings. The issues far outweighed the nice features, though. Good qualities included nice folks at check-in, clean bedding and towels, nice-white comforter and comfortable mattress. The back balcony (shared balcony with full row of rooms) in the luxury valley view area has a lovely morning view - trees, elevation, a small pond and plenty of pleasant birds in the trees. Issues included dozens of insects (two types of ants, earwigs, small flies, beetles) and arachnids (three types of spiders, and centipedes) invade the bathroom at dark - some making their way down the hallway to the master suite. Add to that worn furniture (some tears and stains) poor cleaning - mopping does not get the corners, and intense smoky odor (someone likely put the fireplace on at some time and didn't use the fan - but it was challenging on the sinuses). I tried to pretend I was camping and curled up in my sleeping bag on the bed... not restful. They can fix this, and I hope they do. The property itself has so much potential, and they were nice. The fella was not surprised when I mentioned a bug issue when checking out. At almost $300 a night - AVOID (at least until they hire a real exterminator and clean).

Room needs updates, but the views were great and everything fire with marshmallows very nice.

The Dilliard House is a beautiful place in a quiet location. There was a bonfire on Saturday night with free s'mores kits. There's rocking chairs on the patio of each room. The room was nice and cozy. Unfortunately, the pool wasn't open yet, and there was some construction. This would be a great place for a retreat or a reunion.

I love this place I started coming here when i was a young girl for church retreat & I loved coming here since its so peaceful & great food & nice people :)
