Wonderful hotel and great rooms

Very lovely hotel and friendly staff. Hallways smelled a bit musty, but it didn’t carry into the rooms. Very nice bar/restaurant with a patio

My wife and I were excited about staying in a new hotel. Upon arrival the limited signage made it difficult to even find the hotel. The concept of converting an old bank into hotel seemed interesting. Using the digital key option, we went directly to the room and found the door was open. Very concerning we went to the front desk and was given no explanation for this . The room decor was nice but much smaller than expected. For the 2 nights we stayed there were plumbing issues. The AC was very LOUD and stayed on the entire time we were in the room. The positive for the hotel was the staff was friendly and the breakfast was very good. For our next visit to the Dayton area, we will not 2 staying at this hotel.

Bottom line: to management, "well done" restoring an underused/unrestored historic building and bringing it back to life. Location? If you are visiting the historic Victoria theatre directly across the street or the Schuster Performing Arts Center next door, it doesn't get any better. Period. Drop the mic. Side note: Starbucks is next door in the Schuster Center. IF you need a clean, safe, reasonably priced, new, place to stay for a night or two, this hotel fits the bill. The bathroom is a good size with a nice shower. This craze of utilizing barn doors in hotels as of late? Well, I am not a fan. Just saying ... The work out facility is reasonably well appointed for a boutique hotel. I was impressed. Overnight valet parking is housed in a well lit garage, priced at a fair $22/night. No complaints. That's the positive. Now the not so positive. The room is the smallest I have ever stayed at. MEANINGFULLY smaller than a typical Hampton Inn room. Honestly, the King room that I was "upgraded" to (really?) was tiny. Not even room for an arm chair and certainly no room for a loveseat. That said, if you are going for a night or two, it is sufficient. That said, message to management: you have rehabbed the building. Well done. But did your buyer test your room heating and air system? Honest to goodness, I have stayed in hotel rooms world-wide. Your room heating and air is the absolute loudest I have ever experienced. Honestly, it is LOUD. Off the charts loud. CRAZY loud. So loud that I thought "how could they have POSSIBLY ordered these systems? WHY would they order these systems?? There is no "low, medium, and high setting". It is either "off" or "jet engine high". I genuinely like white noise to sleep but this is WAY beyond "white noise". To the reader: I am NOT a complainer. I am NOT a whinner. Truly. But this IS an issue. To ownership: one pair of earplugs doesn't "get it" (especially in the case of two guests in the room). That is not an answer. To the reader, I am being serious, there IS a solution. I utilize PQ Earplugs (silicone wax ear plugs) when I swim ("Peace & Quiet"). I happened to have them in my workout bag. They sufficiently blocked the noise where foam did not. They are available on Amazon for a few dollars. IF you are intending to stay at this hotel, due to its location, I encourage you to pick up a pair. You'll be glad you did. One or two final thoughts. I am a Hilton Diamond member; I am fairly loyal to the Hilton brand. Often Hilton properties will upgrade Diamond members to a suite, based on availability. I had checked online before requesting an upgrade. I confirmed there was availability. When I politely requested a suite, I was informed there were no suites available. Occupancy was thin the night I stayed at this property midweek. There was availability. As I said, I am loyal to the Hilton brand. Next time I am in Dayton, I am inclined to try the new Hilton Garden
