"The hotel decor is luxurious and the room facilities are excellent. The soundproofing could be better, but it's acceptable. The main issue is the chaotic breakfast. No matter what time you go, there are no seats available, so you have to wait nearby. Every chef preparing food has a terrible attitude. Even if you're polite, they won't speak to you nicely. If you ask for a pancake, they'll act annoyed and tell you to wait, as they're making small crepes. They made a whole plate of small crepes. When I asked if they could make a pancake, they didn't even look up and just said no, still pouring batter to make more small crepes, even though no one was taking them. The noodle and shaved noodle chefs were the same. If something ran out and you asked for a refill, they'd just say, 'Wait.' Despite the seemingly large restaurant, there aren't many edible options. The lamb offal soup with noodles and pancakes tasted good, but you'll have to queue for fried eggs. Both days, I witnessed guests arguing with staff. If I hadn't been traveling with my child, I wouldn't have let them get away with it; it's truly outrageous. Paying 1,400 for a hotel doesn't require amazing service, but couldn't they at least be polite? Also, there are no delivery robots in the hotel. If you order takeout, you have to go down to the entrance of Yungang to pick it up yourself. Apart from the decor, it really doesn't feel like a five-star hotel at all. There are no supermarkets nearby either; you have to walk a long way to buy anything. For those looking for a good hotel, be cautious. If you don't eat breakfast and don't order takeout, it might be an option, otherwise, it's really inconvenient and you'll end up frustrated!"

"This was by far the worst high-end hotel experience I've ever had. The staff's professionalism was virtually non-existent, their attitudes were stiff, and the facilities were damaged. The front desk staff barely bothered to properly record guest information; for a group of over ten people, they didn't even bother to check half our IDs. The towels had holes in them. It was just one thing after another, making me feel like they were taking advantage of their reputation. No matter what I complained about, they had an excuse. Despite explicitly telling the staff not to enter my room right after I checked in, a staff member still forced their way in using a key card. The swimming pool closed at 8 PM, and they started herding people out, plus the water was freezing cold."

"The hotel has a great location, plenty of rooms, and prompt service. The most pleasant surprise was the daily fruit delivery. The buffet was very extensive and showcased local specialties. They also provided free toiletries, so you could relax with a bath when you were tired. Overall, it was a good stay."

"Datong Hotel is located south of Datong Ancient City. It's about a 30-minute walk to the ancient city, so a shared bike would be more convenient. The hotel has two buildings; the Welcome Building has older facilities, while the VIP Building is better. The breakfast spread is very rich, offering many local Datong delicacies. The lamb offal noodle soup, in particular, is very authentic and just as good as what you'd find outside."

"The hotel was new and the rooms were clean, but the service was terrible! We arrived at the front desk at night, and there were three or four staff members standing there laughing and joking. It turned out that after a long discussion, they realized it was because a man with the same name as me had booked the same room type, and they gave him the room I had booked in advance (I had noted that I didn't want the last room and wanted it away from the elevator)?! Such a big hotel?! Don't they even check the information when registering guests? The phone numbers are different, and the genders are different too?! While I was standing at the front desk late at night waiting for them to resolve the issue, the receptionist kept yelling about what to do about the man's booking?! Where was I supposed to stand?! She didn't even apologize, and she was yelling at me about the wrong booking!! Am I supposed to fix her problem? Is this how you train your staff for such a big hotel? And this is supposed to be number one on the luxury list? Is this the level of service you're providing? Don't tell me it's because there are too many guests during the Chinese New Year. If you're so busy during the holidays, how could you make a mistake checking guest information? After making me stand for at least ten minutes, they finally gave me a room. They even gave me a last-minute room near the elevator! When I saw this, I called the front desk, and they said, "Oh, all the rooms you booked are last-minute rooms?" Why didn't you write on the booking page that all City View Suites are last-minute rooms? It felt like the staff didn't know what they were doing; the service was completely disproportionate to the hotel's quality! Oh, and by the way, the laundry room was closed during the New Year period, and they didn't mention this at all when I messaged customer service during booking. 😃 The score is for cleanliness and hotel infrastructure; service is zero."

I particularly want to recommend the massages in the massage area; the technique was excellent, and the price was very reasonable. It was perfect for unwinding after a day of city walking. The only slight drawback is that the restaurant is shared with the adjacent eLong hotel, and the food there wasn't quite up to par."

"This hotel is easy to find, and our taxi driver mentioned it's a well-established hotel in Datong. Indeed, from the front desk reception to the room decor and even the room service, everything was impeccably satisfactory. A special shout-out to Auntie Zhang Chundi from housekeeping. Soon after we checked in, she brought us freshly brewed pear soup. In the afternoon, she provided slippers for us to use after our day out, along with a children's toothbrush and a toilet seat cover. In the evening, she delivered saffron herbal packets and a foot bath. Every single request we had during our stay was met. Datong's service industry and tourism really understand what travelers need. If I ever get the chance to visit Datong again, I'll definitely choose this hotel. Wishing them continued success!"

"The hotel's facilities are excellent. The lobby is grand and elegant, and the rooms are spacious with good hygiene. The location is very convenient for tourists; it's only about a ten to twelve-minute walk to the Datong Ancient City direct shuttle bus stop. In the evenings, you can walk through the ancient city and past the Heyang Gate to reach the Sipaifang commercial food street, which is always bustling. It's so convenient and comfortable to enjoy the beautiful ancient city views and explore the Dongnanyi Historical and Cultural Pedestrian Street. I highly recommend this hotel! 👍"
Moshang Light Luxury Hotel (Datong Ancient City Huayan Temple Branch)
"Stepping into the room, I was instantly wowed by the seamless blend of technology and aesthetic design! The in-room smart voice control was incredibly responsive. The bedding felt like sleeping on clouds, and the separate wet/dry bathroom design was absolutely perfect. Every detail exuded a light luxury vibe; staying here felt like a top-tier reward for both body and mind~ 🌟 The location is super convenient, close to everything. It was easy to get to popular foodie spots and explore the ancient city's attractions. The hotel service was also excellent; they helped with luggage storage, and there was even traditional clothing available for a fun experience!"
Datong Hongya Hotel
"The hotel felt newly renovated, but the overall facilities and management lacked attention to detail: 1. One of the drinking glasses was chipped (I had to call housekeeping to replace it). 2. There was no trash can next to the sink, which was very inconvenient. 3. No conditioner in the shower. 4. Both the shower gel and shampoo bottles were almost empty, with only about a centimeter of product left, and they weren't refilled. 5. There were no extra toilet paper rolls in the bathroom. 6. To get to the breakfast buffet, you had to walk through the Cantonese restaurant, which was a very strange route. Plus, the breakfast menu was exactly the same for two consecutive days. The hot food station (knife-cut noodles and fried eggs) was popular, but there was only one pan for fried eggs, making it impossible to keep up with demand. Even though there were menu signs, there was no order whatsoever, leading to total chaos."
