All was very good and service was great

What a lovely authentic place!

This heritage property is right in the heart of the city, 10 min walk from Mall Road. The rooms were big, luxurious and have large windows to look at the scenic beauty. The reception is little gloomy but the lounge is artistic, rustic and full of old artifacts. There’s no compromise when it comes to cleanliness and amenities. The food is awesome, tasty and service is fast. It’s a value for ur money!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Elgin Hotel. Our deluxe room was spacious, clean and comfortable. It also had a nice view. We loved the Victorian style of the main building where the reception, bar, lounge and library are located. All the rooms including the dining room were tastefully decorated. The antique furniture and the artifacts take you back to the colonial times. The food served in the restaurant was tasteful. What made the dining experience special was the excellent quality of service of the restaurant staff. They were extremely polite. highly efficient and attentive. Unfortunately, we encountered one problem in the bathroom. The refuse was leaking in from the bathroom next door which was certainly a very unpleasant experience. When we complained about this, the hotel front desk staff immediately shifted us to another room which was next door. The staff not only apologized several times for our inconvenience but they also made sure that we got shifted to another room immediately. All in all, we had a very nice stay.

A beautiful heritage property in Darjeeling situated in a quite spot in this incredibly busy town (we were there at the height of the tourist season). Throughout the hotel there are wonderful photos of Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hilary. I believe Tenzing lived in Darjeeling and this hotel certainly celebrates its local hero. The lounge and the dining area are really lovely and tastefully decorated. The food was amazing and the staff were wonderful. We had three huge rooms overlooking the town from where we could watch the beautiful sunsets in the evening. I would highly recommend this place.

Our stay at Hotel Elgin, Darjeeling had its good moments, but overall, it didn’t fully meet our expectations, especially considering the price. The property itself has a charming, heritage feel and the staff were polite and responsive when we raised concerns. On the first day, however, we were given a very small and poorly maintained room, with cleanliness issues including cockroaches on the bed...something we brought to the manager’s attention. Thankfully, the hotel promptly shifted us to a bigger, cleaner room the next day, which had a nice view and was much more comfortable. While the surroundings and the ambience of the hotel are quite nice, the food was disappointing. Breakfast lacked variety, with repetitive South Indian dishes and sandwiches made from bread that didn’t seem very fresh Overall, while we appreciated the heritage atmosphere and the staff’s willingness to address problems, the experience didn’t feel worth the high prices charged. A little more attention to room quality and food would make a big difference.
