Dama Rose Hotel

It is very interesting as the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus has gone through three names changes since it first opened over 40 years ago. It initially started as a Meridian Hotel, then it was changed to a Turkish managed hotel called the Dedeman Hotel and finally the Syrian government has taken over the management of this hotel and is now called: “The Dama Rose” Hotel. The service, amenities and maintenance remain very, very professional. The Dama Rose Hotel contains a great Swimming Pool Club, and it is a place to enjoy a relaxing day by the hotels large Swimming Pool, plus an enjoyable lunch. The Swimming Pool Club does offer daily and monthly rates to make use of its facilities. The pool , toilets and the changing rooms are exceptionally clean and well maintained. The pools water is a bit too cold for me, so I simply enjoy the clubs comfortable Sun Chairs to collect a much-needed Vitamin D! The other positive point of the Dama Rose Swimming Club is the great pool side restaurant. The chef makes a fantastic Fish & Chips plate. The only things missing is the vinegar for the French Fries and the Mushy Peas, as a side dish, which are served in ALL UK Pubs and restaurants. So, if you want to really a day in the sun, I strongly recommend the Swimming Pool Club at the Dama Rose Hotel! Trust me you will NOT be disappointed…

Hotel de 5***** que a pesar de que ha tenido mejores tiempos con seguridad, ahora mismo sigue siendo una opción muy interesante en la actual Damasco. Con docenas de personas trabajando, todas muy dispuestas a ayudar y a atender a los clientes. La recepción es amplia y no suele haber colas ni problemas para que te atiendan. El bar del Lobby tiene lo esencial y, como todo el país, es bastante barato. El Lobby tiene aires de exclusividad que desgraciadamente es algo extraño en la Siria de 2023. Las habitaciones son amplias, discretamente bien equipadas, buena calidad de cama pero pésimamente aisladas del ruido exterior (que no suele ser alto afortunadamente), necesita un doble acristalamiento como corresponde a un cinco estrellas. La ducha es correcta pero antigua, como es la TV y los muebles en general del hotel. Tiene un pequeño pero interesante corredor comercial en la planta baja y sótanos del hotel. Sobre aparcamiento no podría opinar, aunque siempre estaban casi lleno los aledaños del edificio. El desayuno es damasiado parco para ser un cinco estrellas necesita mucha más variedad (y algo más de calidad), lo mejor es el servicio del personal del desayuno, atentos a cualquier petición.
