Dalyan Villa Kiydan Apartments

Amazing stay in mid September, Onur and his family are great hosts and go above and beyond. The apartments are perfect for eating in and have everything you need for a relaxing time away. My favourite holiday destination by far looking forward to returning next year!

Another lovely stay at Villa Kiydan. With it being early November, we were the only guests. It's such a comfortable place to stay, with everything you need for a relaxed holiday. Town is a short 10-15 minute walk, and we were really lucky with the weather for this time of year, only seeing a couple of rainy days with most days having daytime temps around 25-27 and lots of sunshine. On those rainy days, a self catering apartment shows its benefits, with the TV and the large collection of books available coming in handy. We love the peace and quiet available at this end of town, although we rarely don't take the 10 min walk to a bar in the evening. Dalyan is very quiet in November, with many places closed for the winter- but there's still enough open to have choice of where to eat or drink. It was also half-term for Turkish schools, so I had the chance to be showed up by Onur's children playing football with me a couple of times during our stay. Great, relaxing time. Genuinely worth a visit, in seaso or out of season. Oh, duvets were available and greatly appreciated (10 degrees at night) 🙂

We've been returning to the Villa Kiydan apartments regularly since we first stayed there in 2009. Fifteen years on and the apartments still feel as good as new, on account of the annual updating and maintenance programme that Onur and Rumeysa carry out every winter. This year was our first experience of the new salt water system that Onur uses to keep the pool beautifully clear and clean - much better than the traditional chlorine-based systems, and no chemicals involved! In our view, these family owned and run apartments remain the best in Dalyan. They're situated in the quietest part of town, close to the river and with great views of Dalyan's famous rock tombs, especially from the rooftop veranda that overlooks the swimming pool. We enjoyed a beautifully relaxing 10 day break with lots of late summer sun; October is undoubtedly a great time to visit. This is a well-deserved and definite 5 star review - and we would have given Villa Kiydan 6 stars if we could!

Villa Kydan offers a tranquil escape very close to the heart of Dalyan. The villas/appartments itself are beautifully appointed, clean, and comfortable, with a lovely pool perfect for relaxation. The location is ideal, within walking distance of the riverfront and local amenities. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and helpful, providing excellent recommendations for local restaurants and activities. They were always available to answer any questions and ensure a smooth stay. We have been coming to this location for years and highly recommend.

Apartments were clean and up to date, the area was a nice location - this is the reason for 3 stars. We were very happy with this. However, the hosting was an issue and what we had read online about the villa. We had the impression it was fantastic before we arrived but this was most likely the case many years ago, which is a shame. Firstly, we had one half of a toilet roll and we had arrived with a baby and family. We have never stayed at a place where we are not without at least one toilet roll for a family. We read on the website that there was a restaurant and cafe bar. Upon arrival we asked if we could possibly order something for breakfast, we suggested a turkish breakfast. Onur said that this was unavailable and suggested he could drop half of our party off into town to show us a place to get breakfast. We soon realised the following day that there was no food available at any times of the day or even a drink, let alone no honesty bar in sight. We also read there would be a banquet evening once a week. We feel sad that when booking this holiday we chose accommodation that could offer us food and drink on the grounds on occasions in view of us taking a baby away with us. Furthermore, the information book provided at the villa (please see photo) is what we expected when we booked the holiday. I do hope the website is updated and the information book is updated. Following on from a review from my in laws (as we stopped with them with our baby). The host was incorrect. We were asked by the host ‘if we could pay cash now as it would be safer for you to not carry the cash around with you’. There was no warmth from Onur or help with carrying cases on arrival either. There was a feel of a landlord rather than a host. There was no offer of a water cooler until we asked on day 5, of which my father in law had to carry it him self to the room. A cake was offered on the day we were leaving? We had stopped at the accommodation for nine nights and that was the first sight of food provided from the hosts. We did expect more from a travellers choice winner, don’t be fooled by this and hopefully people will look elsewhere until things are changed at Villa Kiydan.

Ideal for a short break, the apartment is well furnished for a 1 bedroom and looks recently renovated to a high standard. The pool area is quite large, with a large shaded area should you not want to sit in the sun. Its self catering so no need to worry about food although the owners can provide if asked in advanced. Apartment was ready upon arrival & no late checkout fee, we were invited to stay as we needed to get our transport back to the airport. (Both transfers were handled by the owners, at a small cost but saved us looking) Owners were available to book tours although we didn't take them up on it. All in, we would recommend and will more than likely be booking again next year.
