Not quite worth a 5 star review but pretty close. The hotel/spa feels very spacious with a good range of offerings whether you want to relax or be more active and the grounds are beautiful. I can imagine at busier times of the year it might be a bit more challenging to get the treatments you want or loungers in the more popular spa areas but it didn't seem too crowded in the week before Xmas. Food is also a highlight with lots of choice for breakfast, lunch & dinner. I had stayed at Champneys Eastwell Manor earlier in the year and the quality of treatments does vary significantly at both places depending on your therapist. I had the most heavenly 'Radiance Renewal Facial' from Zuzanna and it was so good that at one point I actually thought I was floating! Another treatment (Spa Heaven Cocoon) with a different therapist turned out to be underwhelming. The only other thing that stops it being worth 5 stars is that there were quite a few instances when the customer service was actually quite poor, especially at reception e.g. queues, not being overly helpful etc. As I was leaving and walked past a long queue at reception it also occurred to me that not many of the staff ever seem to smile!

Went as a day visitor, was really looking forward to a relaxing treat. The place is tired and a bit shabby, it was difficult to find your way around, need more signage. The facial I booked was wonderful with Sylvia, the highlight of the day. All the quiet relaxation beds were either taken or had wet towels left on them. Towels ! There weren’t any at first, everyone was complaining. How can you use the wet facilities without towels? Eventually some towels arrived, old, shabby towels but dry and clean. We just couldn’t find anywhere to lie and relax. The quiet rooms (no phones) had irritating people on iPads, one even face timing someone - the only staff around were at reception. Never mind we thought, let’s go for a wonderful lunch- the lunch was mediocre, the hot Buffett was Luke warm, no atmosphere or Christmas music in the restaurant and the waiting staff were rare and slow to respond, didn’t seem to know what to do. My husband ordered a glass of sparkling wine, which was too flat to drink. When we came to dessert, all the fresh fruit was gone, so I asked for some more and was told oh sorry there is no more. Honestly it was like a cattle market shambles. I would not recommend it nor would I go back. Thanks to lovely Sylvia for the facial - that was the best part of the day.

I'm in my first year of Coud9 membership and, until now, have focused on the gym and wet spa facilities. However, I decided to book a spa treatment and opted for the Body Radiance treatment. Despite (or maybe because of) being a 64 year old male, this was a lifetime first for me, never having visited a spa before. I struck gold by being assigned to Zuzanna. From the off, she made me feel entirely at ease and was very patient, telling me what to do and when. Her treatment skills were simply amazing, she let me set the intensity of the massage, checking often that I was OK. On top of her technical ability, she was great company, we chatted on & off during the treatment, which relaxed me more than silence would have done. This experience has been positive enough to ensure that I won't wait another 64 years for my next spa visit

Yesterday I visited Champneys Spa in Tring for a spa day with my mum. I have to say it was one of the worst spa days I’ve ever experienced and won’t be going back. As someone who likes spa breaks, I’ve been to a few spas and had high expectations as it’s Champneys. But I don’t know what the hype was about. Here are the reasons I wouldn’t recommend: 1. The spa was freezing. The whole point of being in the spa was to relax and rest but it was so cold and there was nowhere warm to sit. Even by the open fire places that was cold as all the doors were open. The relaxation rooms were also freezing. I was so glad to get in my car and put the heater on. 2. There were too many people. Everywhere was busy. So there was no where to sit. All the loungers were taken and the spa pool was full. What’s the point of visiting a spa if you can’t use anything. 3. The relaxation rooms had no music playing or oils ir fragrances burning. So it was like sitting in a cold dark boiler room. It was very strange and not relaxing. They have so many products to showcase and it was not luxurious in the slightest. 4. One relaxation area had like a juccuzi pool in the middle. So there were people trying to sit and relax reading a book. While a group of inconsiderate people just chatted as loud as they could about their ex-boyfriend thinking that everyone was interested to hear. Where were the staff? Or any signage to say quiet zone. 5. The restaurant was cold and the meatballs were uncooked, the cauliflower cheese was undercooked. Lack of labelling on the food made it hard to know what was what. The soup of the day was a mystery. When we asked for a hot drink to warm up we were told that there were no hot drinks. 6. Everywhere looked proper tatty. The toilet seats were hanging off, leaking toilets, over flowing sanitary bins, broken hair dryers. Even with my vitality discount I still paid a fair amount and it was not worth the money. I think it’s awful that Champneys are so unaware of this under par spa experience. So if you are thinking of booking somewhere to feel special, or to make someone else feel special. Do not book here. But if you are wanting to get that artic feel, maybe you are in preparation for a hike up Everest then I’m sure this experience would help you prepare.

Had a really enjoyable and relaxing spa day at Champneys Tring which included a great Body Sculpt fitness class, taken by Michael, along with a lovely lava shell massage from Zuzanna. The grounds are stunning, the spa area is warm and comfortable, and the cafe offers a beautiful setting for a coffee. Lunch in the restaurant was delicious. I found the whole environment very calm and restful.

Had the best day ever today with a group of family and friends. The location and building is stunning, the facilities were amazing. Breakfast and lunch buffet was so good with an excellent choice. I had a facial with Arleyn who was such a good therapist and so knowledgeable, I could have stayed for days!

Champneys Tring exceeded all expectations for a luxurious wellness retreat. The historic property is stunning, blending old-world charm with modern spa amenities. The staff were attentive and professional, ensuring every moment was seamless. The spa facilities were world-class, from the serene swimming pool to the hydrotherapy suite and a wide range of treatments. My room was beautifully appointed, offering a tranquil view of the gardens. The health-focused dining options were both delicious and nourishing. If you’re seeking relaxation and rejuvenation in a picturesque setting, Champneys Tring is unparalleled. I can’t wait to return!

Such a great stay, we loved the old fashioned style building with the modern facilities. Food was excellent and there were plenty of classes and activities to get involved in. Special mention to Rod on the front desk who was very attentive. We will definitely be back in the new year!

Enjoyed a relaxing spa weekend as a group of 6 - the team really looked after us from the moment we arrived to departure. Special mention to Danny and the lady on the cafe, Gabi and Dan in the restaurant, the Guest Relations Manager and the reception girls - all were friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble! Food throughout the weekend was delicious, service great and our favourite areas were the water bed relaxation room and the sofa’s by the fire!

From the arrival up the Downton Abbey type drive to the time in the spa it has been superb. Champneys Tring just did everything right for me as regards comfort in the room, the bath time goodies and delicious choices full of flavour in the dining room. Can’t wait to come and stay again.

A relaxing environment. Good range of facilities and classes. It does need updating and cleanliness can be an issue towards the end of the day. Louise provides a wonderful service in the cafe, always cheerful and helpful - even when she is run off her feet and could do with an extra pair of hands to help out. Cafe menu is good but availability can be a bit hit or miss, with smoothies and salads frequently off the menu. Other staff are also knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.

Give it a miss.. Hotel on the outside looks absolutely stunning, amazing estate. However it soon turns grim, I came here to scope out for a future conference meeting for a client and booking 10 rooms. Booking in, fine. Reception guy friendly and told me where to go. Walking down past the spa area, amazing, very upper class. Got into my room, Well this is where I suddenly went down hill. Place was so outdated and falling to bits, Major revamp needed. Toilet and shower was broke, spoke to a member of staff. Told me to use the spa shower and toilets instead, no offer for another room. I ended up getting my.own tools out and fixing the toilet and shower myself. The spa was okay to relax in, again major revamp needed around pool and Jacuzzi areas. They had very loud gothic and classic music playing all night through the speakers outside. Couldn't keep my window open. Night was somewhat sleepless. Can't even justify the money I paid to stay here, it's worth £60/70 a night at a push. Went for breakfast next day, selection was awful and nothing topped up. Just left feeling really disappointed and robbed
