Our little slice of heaven is a four season, 800 sq ft cottage, with three bedrooms and a full size, west-elm sectional sofa bed to sleep any overflow guests. With floor-to-ceiling windows, this classic viceroy has a beautiful deck overlooking the lake where you can enjoy al-fresco dinners and a morning coffee; and a dock surrounded by 10 ft of water to jump into, plus a small cove that's perfect for little kids to wade and throw rocks into. Its a perfect getaway for all types of travel, from romantic getaways to family vacations. Winter season guests can enjoy an active ice fishing community on the lake with snowmobile trails all over the community. A ski resort and Haliburton's town centre are both 30 minute drives away. Guests can enjoy our two adult kayaks, two kids kayaks and a canoe to paddle around the lake. A marina is a just a 10 minute drive down the road, offering boat gas, food trucks and general store needs, in addition to the Haliburton Forest Reserve and the area's wolf sanctuary. Guests can also enjoy easy access to Abbey Gardens, Medeco summer camp, Sir Sam's Ski Hill, Dimensions retreat, West Guilford and Haliburton's city centre within a 30-45 minute drive. The river view, firepit, and air conditioning gives you everything you need for the great outdoors during the sunny season. The hot tub, wood stove, and outdoor firepit provide the perfect winter relaxation feel. Hills Haven has two comfortable and stylish bedrooms for your stay. All linens are included and are thoroughly washed after each guest checks out. If you would like to bring extra guests, there is a $75 fee/guest per night. Please notify us for approval - extra guests are welcome to tent or bring an air mattress to sleep on. Hills Haven is fully stocked and equipped to ensure you have everything you need for your stay! In the winter months, the cottage is extremely private as the cottages surrounding the Haven are seasonal and our neighbors do leave for the winter season.- Please bring drinking and cooking water with you as the cottage has river water that is not drinkable. - Firewood is not included so please remember to pick up some firewood for your stay! There is firewood available for purchase at the the Shop n' Save in Kinmount on the way to the cottage. - In the summer months, please make sure to bring along bug spray as the mosquitos and critters like to enjoy the cottage too!- There is WIFI and a Smart TV at the cottage. Our Starlink internet connection is high speed and provides the perfect opportunity to work from the cottage.- Firepit: please keep in mind that fires are permitted at night between the hours of 7pm and 7am. Daytime fires are prohibited.- Pet Friendly - We are animal lovers and welcome you to bring your furry family members! The cottage is not fenced in, so please take care and keep an eye on your pets! - Hills Haven is family and child friendly, but please keep a close eye on your kiddies around the river and hot tub! If you are bringing small children please be advised that you will need to bring your own travel crib.- Please note that the water can only be accessed from the floating dock - there is no beach area or entry/exit point for pets to swim in the river. They are more than welcome to swim but would need to jump in off the dock and be lifted back out of the water.- During winter months, the river is off limits. Do not try to walk on the ice as the river is flowing and it is not safe to do so. Simply enjoy the view!There is a driveway with enough parking for 4 cars. During winter months, the roads leading up to the driveway and the driveway will be plowed - however, we highly recommend winter tires.Guests are welcome to park their boats, ATVs, and snowmobiles at the property. It boasts a modern design and offers a distinctive experience from traditional cottage. However, this project has recently completed and still undergoing finishing touches, including paint and trims. As a result, there may be some construction dust present.If you're someone who values meticulous cleanliness or has tendencies toward perfection, it's important to note that this may not be the ideal choice for you.Additionally, while the cottage is modern and well-equipped, from floor heating on second floor, to warm hot tub facing the lake, however its location on the edge of Algonquin Park which means that it offers a rustic experience more akin to cottage living than a stay in a hotel. Surrounding forests stretch for at least 50 kilometers in every direction. So please expect a level of housekeeping typical of a cottage rather than the standards of a hotel.Other things to noteThere is a UV-filter for the tap water, but its recommended to bring your own drinking water, as tap water comes from the lake.also please be aware that the hot tub is operational, but it is filled with water sourced from the lake. Occasionally, there may be some sand present in the water.
