Hovima Santa María

We had a superior 2 bedroom Apartment which was lovely and had loads of space for my family of 4 but the food was a massive problem for me. I'm vegetarian and used to not getting as many options as meat eaters but I thought it was shocking how little dishes they had! I went to Tenerife for lovely Spanish cuisines but ended up having to eat either bland pizza, pasta or chips. I think that you could work on this alot by adding just a few dishes that are suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Great rooms with balcony with line and table with 4 chairs . The room had a full kitchen, fridge, hob, microwave and kitchen seating as well. The room was cleaned most days with the towels and toilet roll replaced, staff are really friendly and nice. We stayed half board with breakfast and dinner included and we couldn’t fault it. Drinks are not included with the dinner but are reasonably priced (glass of wine €2.60/bottle of beer €2.70). The Flynn and Flanagan was not great but I think it was just a quiet time while they were gearing up for Christmas. The pool area is fantastic, loads of sun beds so no need to put your towels out, two biggish pools and one for kids with games such as shuffle board and pool organised by the hotel. The pool area has a bar, 2 pool tables and a foozball table and off the pool area, there’s also a full size tennis court and table tennis and shuffle board.

Friendly staff. Was upgraded to an apartment on the second floor.. we had breakfast each morning which was a great start to the day. Loved the area as it was close to everything!!rooms were cleaned everyday except sat and Tue and we were told that on check in. Up a hill if you have mobility issues but there’s a taxi rank at the bottom of the hill

We booked this hotel as is it said it had children’s entertainment. Not many hotels offer this at this time of year. My god we were not disappointed!! My 5 year autistic son LOVED kids club with Claire and on mini kids disco on a night !!! Kept him entertained all day &night!! Bingo through the day was a big hit also. Defo will be back to this hotel! Thank you for been so great ! Also rooms kept cleaned and all other staff very friendly!!! Already looking to book up again !!!

On arrival, the hotel looked lovely and modern, check in was quick and straight forward. The rooms are a little bit dated and not all of them have air conditioning, which is a must (One of the reasons I will not be returning). My room was over looking the entrance to the Irish bar, I was not too fussed about the noise but some might be. Then we come to the pool area, which was nice, however it seems like your not allowed to enjoy it. There is one lifeguard that is horrible to the kids and kept moaning at them for no reason, would not even let them have a float to play with in the pool. I spoke to one lady who had to get the manger to speak to him to tell him to stop being so horrible to the kids. I was booked on bed and breakfast and decided one night to have dinner in the restaurant which was over priced at 20 euros. The staff were acting like prison guards when it came to getting drinks and the food was not even worth it. There was a lady named Claire who was in charge of keeping us entertained, she was lovely and attentive. The town itself is really lovely and I cant wait to return. I will be choosing another accommodation next that is more welcoming of families and children.

Santa Maria good price good location good holiday I loved staying at the Santa Maria it was close to the beach and a lot of really good restaurants close by including the food in the hotel which we stayed half board. The staff were very friendly and very helpful at all times I will stay here again and have stayed several times before. There is plenty of sun beds the pool is well maintained with a pool for the kids. The entertainment team are fantastic keeping the kids and adults happy. There is something on each evening in the bar to suit all tastes and if that dosent suit you don’t have to go far to find what your looking for with a wide range of bars along the street of the hotel making it great if you don’t want to have to walk far. Across the road from the hotel is a hyper Dino for your food etc and also close by there is a stop and shop supermarket with lovely fresh pastries etc all you need between the two of them if your staying on a room only basis.
