A Very Honest Review- we stayed at Alua Suites in January 2025, bluntly put, don't expect too much and you'll be fine! The hotel is 3* quality, definitely not 4*. We stayed for a week, I don't think I could have stayed any longer, we were very bored after 4 days. We checked in Saturday evening (8pm), I think were given the worst hotel room the in whole place! But we were hungry so left the cases and dashed to the restaurant for something to eat before it closed. Overall the food in the buffet restaurant was okay a bit same-y after a couple of days, all the meats were quite fatty and overdone on the grill. The desserts were atrocious- we had jelly and ice-cream most evenings as that was the best option, but even that was hit and miss... Not sure how you could make jelly have crunchy bits but Alua Suites, you did it! We didn't eat in the al a carte restaurant as the menu was fish and veal- it was supposed to change but it never did (and we checked it every day on the hotel app!). In regards to our room, we given the prison as we playful called it - room 3242. I don't think I've even seen a 'balcony' like it and even throughout the day we had to have the lights on permanently as it was so dark! Our first night, after eating, I went straight to the reception about the prison and to swap rooms. All in all, I had to go back and ask 3 times about changing our room which really put a dampener on the start of the holiday. We were told the hotel was fully booked and we couldn't swap rooms immediately, meaning we spent the first night in the prison. I find it difficult to believe the hotel was fully booked in January? I was told the first night come back in the morning at 9.30am about swapping. Sunday morning at 9.30am, I was then told to come back at 5.30pm. This meant we couldn't unpack and settle.... Just not a great start to the holiday. We weren't offered any compensation or token gestures for the inconvenience which is a shame & overall telling about the service we received throughout our whole stay. Our 2nd room was okay, the walls needed a good wipe down, but at least we had a proper balcony and light! I noticed generally the hotel was a bit grubby, I felt like it needed a good scrub. I could tell the rooms/hotel were just tidied/quickly wiped as opposed to properly cleaned. We noticed in the restaurant there was food stains all up the walls! Yucky. We ate in the pool bar one lunchtime, it was definitely all style and no substance, I wouldn't bother, the burgers weren't cooked properly (very pink/raw), and it seemed like a lot of left overs from the main restaurant the night before. Annoyingly the bar was inside at the back, so you can't just nip up from your sunbed to get a drink, you need to get dressed/covered up and wear shoes. Don't get me started on the silly drinks token exchange! In a bid to be eco-friendly, you are only allowed one drink in a plastic cup per person. Once it's emptied you have to exchange the empty cup for a token
