The Old Medical Hall

Meanest woman, this place is really not open, we had to find another place. No tea room, or bakery. We spoke to other people in town and nobody recommended her. Stated that people had had major problems! Do not recommend!!!!!!!! The woman was rude on the phone, we never saw her! We had booked this place February 25, 2025. Got confirmation and a code. Please don’t book here!

Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit unserer Unterkunft. Sie liegt zentral in Castletownbere. Wir hatten wegen des Verkehrs leider 30min Verspätung. Die Gastgeberin hat sehr zuvorkommend reagiert. Bei spontanen Herausforderungen (Zimmer etwas kalt, da die Heizsaison noch nicht begonnen hat) hatte sie direkt eine Lösung parat. Wir würden sofort wieder buchen. Als Ausflug ist der Besuch von Bere Island unbedingt empfehlenswert.

Stayed 3 nights early January which may explain why it was so cheap at only a total of €142-50. Location very good, room adequate, bathroom excellent, all very clean,heating excellent, staff excellent. Breakfast, one of the best I have ever had, and that would include numerous 5 star hotels. Considering the price I would highly recommend the Old Medical Hall.

Very unique b and b in an old pharmacy. That said the bathroom was large and modern. You have to climb some steep stairs, but it is an old building and comes with the experience. We had a slight problem with the door lock but there is a bakery on the ground floor and a woman came over and showed us the trick. The lock was original to the building, so it worked in a opposite handle direction to modern locks so once she showed us how it worked no further issues. The breakfast in the morning was the best breakfast we had in Ireland in 5 weeks, perfect. Perhaps to be expected with a bakery in the b and b. It was also the only truly good coffee we had during the trip. Parking is across the street, we had no issues, and no charges. Easy walk to the piers, perfectly situated location. We had dinner in Breen's Lobster Bar and it was terrific.

Wow! I’ve stayed here many times over the last few years and absolutely love their hospitality and passion for what they do. The staff is professional and incredibly friendly and eager to please. ❤️ Their beds are incredibly comfortable and the rooms are set-up to homey and welcoming. After a wonderful nights sleep you wake up to a breakfast that can be beat by none! It has an old world charm with all the present day amenities. Don’t settle for less! If you need a place to explore the Beara Peninsula this is your place!

Lovely accommodation and very welcoming host. Room was spacious with comfortable beds and lovely bathroom. The breakfast menu was amazing with a variety of options and the food was really good. Location is central so short stroll to the local amenities.
