Best Western the Webbington Hotel and Spa

This is a bit out of the way but OK if you are touring the area. A rather faded Edwardian large hotel that is in need of a bit of renovation and redecoration to bring it up to standard. Our room was a bit small and showing its age. The staff were friendly

We had such an enjoyable time here this weekend, getting all the family together to celebrate our daughter’s birthday, so I wanted to write a review while it’s all fresh in my mind! I knew we’d be happy with this hotel from the very first telephone contact, where I was given such friendly and helpful advice about which rooms would be most suitable for our group, as well as menu options and info about the spa facilities. We settled on the dinner, bed and breakfast option, which was a great choice in hindsight, as the dinner was superb (so I’m glad we didn’t dine elsewhere as we’d half thought we might do, initially). Communication before our arrival was excellent, with every email answered promptly in a welcoming way. We were lucky enough to be allocated rooms in the older part of the hotel, in the main house, which suited us perfectly as we adore being surrounded by original features and we loved the authenticity of the big old wooden doors, the wood-panelled cosy lounge with huge old fireplace, the gorgeous stonework throughout and the creaky floorboards full of character and history. The hotel oozes old-fashioned charm and understated elegance, with huge windows overlooking the Mendips and a welcoming terrace with seating for pre-dinner drinks or morning coffees enjoying the spectacular countryside views. We so enjoyed using the pool, steam room and sauna and the young sons (all in their twenties) took full advantage of the gym! What stood out most for us all, however, was the level of customer care throughout the stay: from the member of staff who took the trouble to answer all my queries by phone or text before our visit, the friendly welcome we all received on arrival, the bar staff who went out of their way to be helpful for our big party of eight throughout our evening ( pulling new chairs out of nowhere , without being asked, so we could all sit together comfortably) and the staff in the restaurant who served us with friendliness and efficiency during dinner and breakfast, catering to all our different requests. It’s definitely true that a hotel is only as good as its staff and this one is wonderful! I’m already busy planning a return visit for longer!

Not tried this spa hotel before and will not return. Not sure it should market itself as a spa, steam and sauna away from the pool and relaxation area, nowhere to sit comfortably or shower comfortably by the hot rooms. Restaurant and bar good, nice seating areas, lovely terrace, shame about the traffic noise from M5. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Spa closed between the hours of 1 and 4pm for cleaning, 4 days of the week, assume the area does not need to be cleaned on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I was not told spa not open for this chunk of time despite communicating my plan to use the spa if our room was not ready, it wasn't ready, or we were not allowed in until 3pm. Room pleasant, not huge, asked for a quiet room and we got it. Smelt a bit musty and was rather dated, but hotel has very good cleanliness standards throughout. Breakfast very good, extensive choice but go early as some food items and coffee ran out and were not replenished. Staff clear away the food items on the dot of 10am

This was our 2nd year of returning to this hotel. I booked a family suite room 220. Unfortunately, there was a terrible smell of fish through the rooms. This was reported to management the morning we checked out. They assured me this would be investigated and that they would get back to me. Sadly I've had no response from the hotel. It's been over a week now. Clearly my complaint & I was more than understanding of the situation when I explained to the manager him self has been dismissed and forgotten! Anyone who chooses to book this hotel. DO NOT BOOK ROOM 220!

It does what it says on the tin… good facilities, decent breakfast but needs sprucing up . Room was large with good view but everything creaked!

Was nervous with some of the reviews but I can honestly say this was a lovely stay. The receptionist who checked us in on the Monday was very professional and made it exciting for my 9 year old daughter. The room covered all the bases . The breakfast was nice and buffet style making it relaxed the restaurant staff very helpful. If your expectations are 5 star then maybe this isn't for you but if you want a nice hotel at an affordable price..I'd highly recommend
