Casa Marbella

Front dock boat service To put things in cotext, I live in Denver so am not used to humidity. We were in Tortuguero in August, which is the rainy season so it wa s hot and humid (think mid-80's for both). Casa Marbella is .delightful hotel. They had a staff person greet us at La Pavona, which is the boat station to get to Tortuguero. The boat ride was a blast and took us directly to the hotel. They were there to greet us and check us in. Note that if you book through any other site aside from their own, you will need to pay in cash, so be prepared! Most sites mention that few places in Tortuguero take credit cards...the hotel and the tours we took were cash only but some of the restaurants did take credit cards. Our room was good sized by Costa Rican standards. There is no air conditioning, which seems fairly common. They did supply 2 powerful fans which helped but I was melting. I think our sink leaked a bit because the bathroom floor was always soaking wet, which didn't help the humidity issue. The included breakfast was great and excellent portions. Service was responsive and even provided breakfast a it early on a day we had to leave beforw the usual service time.

Nice hotel with a great view Hotel has a fantastic view that you can enjoy throughout the day and where you eat breakfast, which was also very good (it varies every day, e.g., pancakes, scrambled eggs). The room mostly has everything that you need (no safe). Our room specifically was directly next to the Main Street, so it sometimes was noisy but nothing extreme. Would definitely stay here again.

Petit hôtel très bien situé à Tortuguero. Calme, chambre très agréable, lit confortable. Dans la salle de bains, les toilettes ne sont pas trop séparés de la douche donc on a tendance à mettre de l'eau partout. Le petit déjeuner est bon. Le personnel pourrait être plus agréable.

Très bon rapport qualité prix au regard de ce qui est pratiqué au Costa Rica, nous avons beaucoup apprécié la terrasse paisible en bordure de rivière. Le bateau taxi nous a déposés et repris devant l’hôtel. De bon conseil pour le guide qui nous a emmené visiter et le parc en bateau et à pied. Se situe dans le bourg de Tortuguero nous avions une chambre qui donnait sur la rue mais qui n’est pas plus bruyante que ça. Juste effectivement la clim qui faisait un peu de bruit et que nous avons éteint. Le petit déjeuner compris très bon avec pancakes, fruits et café . Je conseil fortement cet hébergement.

Casa Marbella is a small bed and breakfast facility on the Tortuguero Village. We booked our stay through *******. Before our arrival, Casa Marbella sends detailed instruction on how to reach the public ferry dock, and a time table of the ferry. This helps us to correctly navigates to the ferry landing place. When we reach La Pavona (Embarcadero a Tortuguero), we were surprised to be greeted by a lady working for Casa Marbella, with our ferry tickets at hand. We had a good conversation with the lady when we were waiting for the ferry, and she explained in details of the tours operated by Casa Marbella. We ended up purchasing 3 tours from Casa Marbella: Night wildlife spotting & Jungle walk, the Tortuguero Canal tour, and the Night wildlife spotting & Jungle walk. We have spent more on the tour than our room, and we were pretty satisfied with the tour. The Casa Marbella sits beside the canal with a beautiful dock and dining area that faces the canal. The hotel room is very small and basic though. The plus side is that the room has a working air conditioning unit, which is very useful in the hot and humid Tortuguero weather. Some negative side is that the shower is heated by a small electric heater at the shower head, which frequently trips during the shower. So don’t be surprised if the shower suddenly turn cold, and you should try to turn back the switch that controls the shower heater outside your room. Casa Marbella offers coffee around 5am, to accommodate earlier riser for the morning canal tour. A continental breakfast is offered, with some fruit, coffee and orange juice, and the choice of either bread and scrambled egg or pancakes.
