Billie's Backpackers Hostel

I initially arrived in Fairbanks focused on seeing the Northern Lights, but my stay at Billie's made me appreciate the town and state beyond that! Billie and Art are so friendly and welcoming, and offer a cozy common room and kitchen facilities for all. I stayed in the bunk rooms on the side house attached, and mattresses were relatively comfy with clean bedding. Flexible checkout and lots of recommendations for all Winter activities (Dog sledding, Ice fishing, etc) beyond the Aurora. Please give these folks business, enjoy!

There are not enough words to describe the Experience & the Awesome Hospitality from Bille & Art. Soon as you arrived you are greeted with a warm smile, full tour of the hostel, help with your luggage, immediately ask you if you need anything. During your stay, they go above and beyond your expectations by making sweet treats, even sometimes meals, from time to time checking on you and so much more. Besides the Hostel being Beautiful on the outside & inside it's kept cleaned, amenities that you can used and need especially if you are a world traveler and forgot something "Free"!. If you are coming to Fairbanks, AK, you would be doing yourself, family or friends a disservice if you don't stay at Billie's . Deserves more than 5 Stars, if I could I would give it 10 Stars!

A charming and lovely warm place in beautiful Alaska. Billie's hostel has a calm and relaxed atmosphere. The host (Billie) is like the perfect grandmother we all have or have had, warm and helpfull. Thank you for three wonderful days in Fairbanks :)

I had an amazing stay at Billie's Backpackers Hostel. I spent four nights here as a solo female traveler and felt safe and at home the entire time. Billie and her family are incredibly kind and welcoming; they went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. I have never experienced such hospitality. The home itself is cozy and unique, it really felt like a home away from home. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean. Every person I encountered during my stay was kind and friendly. Billie's dog, Otis, was also very sweet :) I highly recommend staying at this hostel and would gladly return if I have the opportunity to visit Fairbanks again. One thing to note is that it is preferable to rent a car for the trip. Getting around Fairbanks without a car can be somewhat challenging, and ride shares may have longer wait times due to limited availability. There is only one restaurant within walking distance (which was very good!), but the buses are easy to use to get downtown. With proper planning, this issue can be easily resolved, but it's something to keep in mind.

I had a great experience at Billie's. The bed was comfortable and the (multiple) bathrooms more than adequate, but more than anything, the people -- from Billie and her family to the fellow hostelmates there -- were an absolute delight. I particularly enjoyed the hostel's convenient location, which is a stone's throw from UAF and a quick drive downtown or to the airport. Creamer's Field is also very close by, allowing you to easily access unobstructed vistas for northern lights viewing (winter) and wild tracts of land that harbor some of the continent's most incredible bird species (summer). You can even see the lights from right outside the hostel's front door -- if Mother Nature complies. For all these reasons, it's no wonder Billie's has a consistent track record of positive experiences. I'll certainly be coming back the next time I'm in Fairbanks!

I am so glad I chose to stay at Billie's while I was in Fairbanks. Billie is the most gracious host. She made sure my stay was perfect, from the endless coffee, to the treats she brought over, to an array of food for breakfast. I felt like I was staying with my grandmother. I wanted for nothing. The beds were comfy, and the rooms were clean. There was even a way to get my laundry done. It was in a central location to town, the university, and public transportation. And, I could not beat the price! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in Fairbanks.
