Casa Moabi

Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience with this hotel. When I first got there, they gave me a different room than what I booked. They told me they "upgraded" me, but this was a lie to manipulate me into being content with the fact that they gave my room away to someone they were familiar with who was coming back to stay with them. The room smelled TERRIBLY of mold. It was such a profound smell that I asked for a different room. They then showed me two rooms that smelled exactly the same that I could choose from. I was assured it wasn't mold, and that "we are in a rainforest and things get wet and damp." I have been to costa rica five times, and never have smelled rooms that smell like this for this price. I was not willing to take the risk, so I left and went to an air bnb. I was really hoping to get a refund, so I asked them. They avoided me and never gave me the refund. I felt this was unjust, rude, and strange behavior. I really tried to be kind and resolve this in a way that felt fair, but they are not communicating with me and refused to give me my money back. Please don't waste your money here. I am a budget traveler, but refuse to let that get in the way of my health.

this is the hotel you are looking for amazing place, amazing humans! the hotel is beautiful, with a beautiful public area and cozy quiet rooms. right across the street from stunning, empty beaches, while also tucked just beneath the jungle’s edge, there was beauty and wonder literally everywhere i turned. toucans and monkeys and coconuts and mangoes and all kinds of amazing tropical fruits i’d never even heard of. this place is magic. the hosts were fantastic. 11/10. they speak spanish and english (and i think french too), were incredibly gracious, kind, and knowledgeable, and wise. i can’t wait to come back here.

Really nice room a little musty

Lovely relaxing people and great hosts and staff. Don't pass on the breakfast $7 for a large plate of fruit plus eggs and toast or pancakes.

An absolutely wonderful, peaceful environment the owners have created. What an absolutely great place at a great price. Needed a spot for 2 nights before catching a tour & feel fortunate to have gotten here. Walk to the beach or rent their bikes and enjoy the tasty breakfast - pancakes were the best.

Our hosts were very kind and helpful. There are great beaches nearby. The accommodation we had was very basic and felt a little damp, and with no air conditioning we had to sleep with a rather noisy fan on all night
