Blue Ball Inn, Sandygate, Exeter

We had fish pie and a burger. The service was great. Atmosphere was nice. The burger was ok but the meat lacked any seasoning or flavour. The cheese had no flavour. The chunky chips were very nice. The fish pie was on the small side and was kind of sloppy with minimal flavour.

Arrived at the blue ball inn with some family,6 of us in total for Sunday lunch. We were seated by a waitress who didn't seem very interested in us at all but seemed very friendly to some other diners who i assume were regulars. It took about 20 minutes for someone to come over and take our drinks order. we ordered our starters which took 30 minutes to arrive but they were fine. Now for the roasts, they took an hour to arrive after i had to chase up a waitress who told me our food was next to come out but were low on staff. When our meals finally arrived the food wasn't warm but we were all famished by this time so just ate our meals. We realised afterwards that none of us got a Yorkshire pudding which was part of the meal and they do charge 21 pounds for what turned out to be a below average roast so we thought it was quite poor overall. I think we were forgotten as other diners who arrived after us were served there food before us. If there was communication we would have been ok with it all to a point but nobody bothered with us. I think after our experience we wouldnt eat there again. I think to be fair its a nice venue and maybe it was a one off but our experience wasn't great.

We decided to book a table for our family Christmas gathering this year at the Blue Ball and we were not disappointed. Everything was amazing from the planning with Nat, the high quality, delicious food, and the exceptionally accommodating friendly staff. It was fantastic from start to finish.

Popped in on a Sunday lunchtime just for a drink.. the staff ,especially the guy that served us could not have been more welcoming...we had our doggie with us who was treated to a drink (bowl of water) and some doggie treats.. definitely Sunday lunch next time .. first class service Thank you

Fantastic meal and overnight stop , The staff , Josh, Belle ,Sonia and Millie were excellent 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Saturday night , really friendly and made us feel very welcome , will most certainly return in the near future Having the option to park up a such a great place without any hassle again. 5 ⭐️

Such a lovely place to go for some food and a bite to eat, we were welcomed with such a lovely, smiley, down to earth lady called Natalie. We wanted something small to eat so went for their starter of calamari, my god was it amazing. Had to compliment them several times on this ( compliments to the chef’s) Great outdoor seating area and lovely staff. Can’t wait to go again!
