Firstly I must say that I have always loved the Kingsway hotel and have stayed many times. I have always found the staff very friendly and helpful, the accomodation really comfortable and clean.However, this occasion was a little disappointing in as much as the welcoming receptionist was not very welcoming. She was very surley and unapproachable , the other receptionists howevere were lovley. Everything was fine as usual , until I returned home to find that my credit card had been debited a further £100. No explanation just a debit. I rang to investigate and was told by the same surley receptionist that I had made a burn mark on the chair in the rooms and have been charged. Needless to say I was not responsible for this damage. I saw it when I checked in of course, but assumed the duty housekeeper would have reported it prior to my arrival. Obviously not. My point here is that I was not contacted whatsoever by any member of management to discuss this matter and was assumed by them to be responsible, they then proceeded to debit my account without my knowledge, which is illegal. That said, after some several emails and phone calls to the manager and staff the matter was finally resolved and agreed i should have been contacted and a refund was issued. I love this hotel but my point here is to check the room for defects and damage on checking in and report it straight away to avoid this reoccurring. I know I will for sure.
