Station House Bed & Breakfast

Nine friends and I stayed in the Station House B & B on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th February. From my first reservation phone call to the time we departed, Kathleen, Nicholas and Nicky were so kind, helpful and very professional. When we arrived, Kathleen and Nicholas met us at the door and gave everyone such a warm Clare welcome. Kathleen is a lovely hostess and runs a very professional accommodation. She is kind and friendly and we had great chats with her during our stay. The rooms are of a very high standard and are nicer than a lot of hotels. Spotless with comfortable beds and a fabulous walk-in shower. The breakfast was second to none with a large choice and plenty of which was served fresh at our tables rather than a buffet style. The ladies looking after us for breakfast were so helpful and nothing was a problem. They also have a great sense of humour. The location is excellent and only a short walk to the main street of Ennistymon. We spent two great nights in the Cooley House Bar and enjoyed great live music there. My friends and I are giving the Station House B & B a Five Star rating and would give it a higher rating if we could. We had such a great stay there. We would highly recommend this B & B. We loved The Station House! We arrived a bit bedraggled after a long day driving, and Nicky greeted us with a warm welcome. We had a lively night dining and listening to music in Doolin, then a beautiful morning at the Cliffs of Moher — both nearby. Our rooms were large, immaculate, and comfortable, and my husband loved his first real Irish breakfast in the morning — the rest of us enjoyed our selections, too. County Clare was in the hurling championship so it was fun to see the support around Ennistymon. A few days later when we arrived in Dublin just after the match, we felt a certain pride in Clare's victory!

This accommodation is excellent. There is plenty of parking outside and it is easy to find. The host was very welcoming and friendly. It is a very large house with lots of rooms and it is easy to walk into town. Our room was a decent size with a lovely bed, which was very comfortable. All the usual amenities are provided such as TV coffee/tea, hair dryer etc. There is a small desk in the room and a wardrobe, but not many drawers. The bathroom is a good size with a lovely walk in shower, which is very efficient. The wash basin is big and has two good sized drawers underneath for storing toiletries and wash bags which is often a problem in many hotels. Breakfast had a range of options, cereals fruit, yoghurts etc plus a good choice of cooked items. We opted for a full Irish breakfast and the scrambled egg with smoked salmon, both were cooked well and were hot. There were some lovely breads, including a fruit tea bread, and a delicious cranberry scone. Decaf coffee was not a problem as they had plenty of that. This accommodation was reasonably priced and was exceptionally good value. I would strongly recommend it.

If I could have given it a higher rating I would have. I read the reviews before I booked and would echo all of the positive comments they contained. My wife and are travelling with friends and the Station House has been one of the highlights of our trip. Clean, friendly, convenient, comfortable and breakfasts that would put many far more expensive hotels to shame. We were very reluctant to leave.

Best breakfast I’ve ever had! Location was ideal for the Cliffs and Burren. We walked to town for a fun night! Quiet, beautiful bathroom, comfortable beds. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a lovely stay near the Cascades.

Comfy rooms, great breakfast, lovely hosts. We stopped here our first night in Ireland having flown into Shannon. We picked up our car and drove on relatively quiet roads to the Station House, getting used to the “wrong” side of the road. The Station House was pretty close to the Cliffs of Moher, which was another reason we had chosen it. It was a good choice.
